Richmond Roast House — Local services in South Island

We came in to get something quick because we usually come here on a daily basis, we were headed somewhere important but the person was giving us a side eye while taking their time on the phone, there were no other people waiting for their food except us, other staff looked embarrassed and once we tasted the food the pork tasted like shoes but the lamb and veggies was alright. It took over 15 minutes for them to put the food into a small meal box that was already precooked and hot, we are disappointed because we love the roast house's food, but it just wasn't so great this time, same as the experience. Straight-up waste of 40+ dollars. Would also like to see them make sandwiches again as they are still on the menu and not marked that they don't make...

Wow Roast house Richmond from entering your restaurant I immediately noticed how calm the energy was lots of good vibes the lady at the till was kind and efficient taking my order the owner takes so much pride in his establishment. Watching him prepare my meal from graciously cutting up my lamb and plating my beautiful spuds and gravy the whole experience in this shop was amazing and the food was the best roast I've had except for my Nana's the spuds are yummo just what I needed on this cold rainy flooding day. my dog also loves the free frozen lamb bones that they offer which is hugely appreciated if I could give you ten stars I would I will be back every fortnight...

I’m rarely in Richmond, so I stopped by the Roast House. There used to be a Nelson branch near the Girls’ College, but even back then the phone number, website and online ordering all pointed to Richmond.

My visit this time was good – the place was quiet except for one other customer, and the service was excellent. That was until my food arrived, when the customer and the owner launched into a loud chat about gangs, politics, Māori and whatever else came to mind.

So, my advice: order takeaway in person and enjoy it at home, or pay YUMMi $15 on top of your $35 meal for delivery. Final verdict – great food and service, but...
