Being a huge fan of Thai food, but also rather partial to a good burger or pizza, Ben and Maxxis really ticks a lot of boxes for me. Whenever we have family visiting, off we go. With the blended "fusion" style menu, offering both delicious Thai options and more western selections like beef or cheese burgers, it is a safe bet that everyone will leave happywe started off with the appetizer for 4 option, which included happy chicken wings, angry chicken wings, pork skewers, spring rolls and fries. I reckon that the fries here are some of the best in town, always get double what you think you need! The appetizers were the highlight of the meal, in fact next time we come I may just order that for myself. I then ordered a Satay Chicken pizza. The base was thin and crisp, the cheese and the satay sauce was banging. I did order the 'crispy' chicken option, and to be honest, I would probably get the standard grilled chicken next time as the batter was quite thick. My wife ordered the Satay Chicken and Rice. Again choosing the crispy chicken option. Our daughter chose the Satay Chicken Salad (are you seeing a theme here!!) And again, Crispy chicken. Having tasted all dishes (such is the responsibility of a dad!) I can attest to the fact that the food is still up to its high standard. The quantities were good also, with us each requiring a doggy bag at the end of the meal. Great atmosphere, great staff, excellent...
Read moreBen and Maxxi Eatery, thank you for a special Saturday lunch dining experience. It was the most amazing time we have had in a long time eating out. (And we go out lots around New Zealand). We were welcomed by the friendly duty manager in a professional manner and he made to feel very comfortable in the setting. He was very attentive towards all of our dining needs. The food came to our table in a timely fashion and the food was very tasty. We had a beautiful unique drink accompanying our meal which added to the enjoyment. This restaurant has great atmosphere and high class service. We will be back soon and we will definitely recommend this little gem to everyone we know and anyone looking to dine in the Nelson...
Read moreI wish there was and option to leave no stars. We went for a meal this evening, my partner and I ordered two burgers at $20 each. For $20 you would expect a decent burger definitely not a raw burger!! My partner ordered a monk fish burger which was a little underwhelming but ok and I ordered a chicken burger. The chicken burger was raw I showed the waiter who said he would inform the chef, didn’t take the plate with him more importantly neither did we get an apology, so he left and after 15 mins of waiting for him to return with an apology (this did not happen) we left also. Thoroughly disappointing the food being raw is one thing the shockingly poor service is another. Do...
