Arrived late after a long journey and booked on the phone.||A nice lady spoke to us and said a plan of the site would be left outside reception showing where to park the camper van.||On arrival we found the map and drove to the plot.||This was near the far corner and was roped off as new grass had been seeded and there was a lot of new growth.||We double checked and this was definitely the spot to park.||||All went well until early next morning when a Man came hammering and shouting at the door waking us up.||He was most rude, shouting and swearing.||Turns out he was angry we were on the new grass.||When we tried to explain , showed him the map we had been left , he then changed tack.||Still shouting he started swearing about his staff member calling her some terrible names and using really foul language.||||Now we are seniors, not hell raisers !||We abide by rules and are polite to people.||This man was the worst person we met in New Zealand .||He did not apologise to us and I dread to think what he said to the poor woman.||He seemed to be in the “ Hostility” not the “hospitality”industry!||||The camp site was in an excellent position for our walk in The Hooker valley to Mt Cook . ||Twizel was quite pleasant and we will visit it again but we would not stay at this site again until a change of management .||I don’t recommend you stay...
Read moreArriving around 3pm, the check-in lady was annoyed when I turned up because she wanted to go on her late lunch break. She quickly took the money and showed on the site map where our site was. We booked and paid for a non powered site but we were given a powered site. I'd normaly be happy with this, but the site was just a dusty space. I wasn't expecting green grass, brown dried grass would have been fine. Attached photos. Everything in our caravan awning got covered in dust. I realise the management can't stop the wind but this is not a site worth paying for. It's what you'd expect if your late in to a freedom camping spot. It was also extremely narrow to get the caravan into.|No playground or anything for kids.|Wifi is awful. Alot of signs with rules everywhere. They also write on the sign the punishment if the rules are broken, and that security cameras watching. Just what you like to read as you go in for your shower. |My wife talked to a staff member when they were finally cleaning the bathrooms after leaving their dirty cleaning rags in one of the three sinks available for around 15 hours. The lady didn't care about any of the issues, apparently we booked late and thats why we got that spot. She said they have lots of good reviews. She said she'd let the manager know and they'd come visit us. We never saw anyone. Don't waste...
