The reviews were good, which is why we booked, but I was a little disappointed on the night. The food was ok, but the base on the chocolate tart for desert was so hard I struggled to cut/break it with a knife. I ordered a bottle of Mt Difficulty pinot noir, but was brought a bottle of Rabbit Range. When I queried the wine, I was told by the waiter that it was the only pinot noir they had - if I didn't ask, he was going to tell me that. I would have thought that for a restaurant on the doorstep of the Central Otago region they would have more than one pinot to choose from. My partner also had a man chatting with two women at the table next to us who wasn't even eating with them, was almost sitting in my partner's lap and smelt like cigarette smoke after regular smoke breaks. The waiter said no twice, then some one else came out and asked why they needed it, and then asked them to use the microwave? It was really weird to watch them go out of their way to be unhelpful- they just wanted a cup of hot water. We did ask for our money back which they gave us and we were happy with that. But we all left feeling like something was just a bit off. Which is unfortunate because it's really nice and the...
Read moreFIVE STARS FOR FLAVOR! My tastebuds were not prepared for such a tantalizing experience!! I got the Charred Seasonal Greens and boy did this healthy little fish knock my socks off. Perfect proportions had me feeling fueled for the day. Broccoli crisped to perfection. Halloumi the right cut of thickness and NOT TOO SALTY. Lemon hummus and sauerkraut added the exactly right level of brightness to this dish. I would not change a single thing. Got the vegetable frittata to go and enjoyed on a big hike the next day- what a treat. Sitting mountaintop, my friend and I marveled at how the chefs got the kumara (sweet potato for my non-NZ friends) perfectly injected to the center of this decadent egg muffin. A+ flavor combos all...
