We ended up using this ferry service, due to Taboga Express being sold out. We were able to just show up and purchase tickets on the spot. They didn't request our passports at the ticket counter, they just have you put your name, age, nationality and passport/ID number on a sign up sheet. This ferry is a lot cheaper than the Taboga Express and the sailing is only 15 minutes longer. There is only one a day and they give you more than enough time to enjoy the island.

That being said, the standards are lower than the express ferry. The boat is in need of some serious maintenance, and they also crammed on a lot more people than they have space for. Then one of the crew was going around and asking only the people who were obvious foreigners to make room for other passengers. A lot of the local passengers were very impatient when it came to sign up, boarding and disembarkation and there was some miscommunication during initial boarding.

All that being said, if you're willing to rough it a bit, this ferry doesn't seem as popular as the Express, so if you show up at 8:00, you should be able to get a ticket no problem, and I also think it's worth saving...

A disappointment. I went on a night tour with them and was very disappointed. You can't see anything, the boat was a wreck, everything was dirty, the crew was rude, the bathrooms had no water, and the boat just went around the Causeway for 3.5 hours (instead of the promised 4) and returned. I don't recommend it. You're better off biking or walking along...
