This has been in place since the sixties. My grandmother used to shop here for garden plants and up to this time the garden section offers many hi end plants as well as your everyday pot plants. The 'PX' section is fading away. Mostly fakes and copies. No longer the place to go for the latest lifestyle trends. The wet market though is still one if not the best in the country. A lot of very fresh and hard to get vegetables from botique farms all over the country as well as imported fresh vegetables and fruits from Australia, Japan, China, new Zealand, USA as well as Pakistan, Thailand and Taipei. the Seafood is the best in the country. There are a lot of Japanese shops no wonder Japanese restaurants rely on Cartimar for everything they need. In spite of gov't policies on regulation on imported goods, one could find a lot household merchandises and canned proccessed food from the US England and Japan. Today, its luster had faded away. The complex is dirty and delapidated. However, there stand out one Chinese restaurant "ONN KEE" thats worth visiting. Some stores have air-conditioning, there's a SaveMore supermarket, bike parts, dry open market, specialist kitchen stores, knock-off shoes, Japanese and Korean market/ restos, and more. It's worth a visit for locals. For foreigners, it's good for bargain hunting- but they should have an eye for checking authenticity.
