I am here on business, working online for 6 months. at half time of my trip, I had to find another accommodation. A friend of mine, Liza, recommended the Get Wet Surf School in Caparica town. I wanted to be as close to the ocean as possible. I'm from a landlocked country, the beauty where the ocean meets the land always takes my breath away. I'm 44, and frankly, I thought the time for me to learn to surf had passed. Plus, even the thought of going into cold water (had no idea how warm a wetsuit can keep me) - I often joked about saying I'd be ice cream to sea animals. But my curiosity and an amazing instructor, Miguel, who is leading the school together with Lara and Joao, introduced the joy of surfing to me in the most convenient and gentle way possible. They are passionate, knowledgeable, local, and dedicated to helping every surfer reach their full potential. Their personalized approach and constructive feedback truly elevated my learning experience. I always felt safe on the surfing lessons and being cold is the least of my worries today. The surf camp is in a prime location, about 400 meters from the coast (4 minutes walk) . It's comfortable; after a day of surfing, nothing beats returning to a cozy and comfy retreat. It's clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed to ensure rest or work for me. I walk to the coast a couple of times a day, which helps me release work stress. The people in Caparica town say hello, something I like and miss in big cities, even in Lisbon. The beach walk is like a catwalk on sunny days; people love to be out here playing soccer, skate, volleyball, working out, surfing, all along the coast. Food is affordable and delicious, and there is even beach yoga. There's never a dull moment around here; it's a vibrant surf destination. My experience exceeded my expectations, and surfing is just the cherry on top the cake for me. I don't really want to leave; unfortunately, I will have to in a month's time. However, a couple of things are for sure: I'm becoming a surfer, it calms my moods in ways I didn't think were possible. I think this is what is called a...
