My rating is based on the incident that took place on the 11th of October 2022, whereby I witnessed abuse of power from a Korean employer, towards a young lady and I see that the store has responded to a previously posted review regarding the same incident, denying the allegations and without any form of apology or acknowledgement. I have seen the Korean lady being rude to other customers (Myself included), but I had always assumed it was a language barrier frustration therefore I would redirect my questions or need for assistance to the black staff members.

During the altercation, the staff members admitted that sometimes the Korean lady sometimes get physical with the female staff, and never the men. They also added that they would get dismissed and called back to work at random times and they did not have contracts or UIF nor a platform to support their grievances as they feared losing their jobs. There were more issues expressed, like them not being able to call in sick or take family responsibility leave... Which comes as a shock seeing that the owner claims to have investigated and interviewed 7 employees themselves, which is weird as the previous post had already expressed that the staff were scared of losing their jobs.

And the new rules they are introducing should have been put in place already, not triggered by one post or an incident that never should have taken place in a work environment.... Everyone should have been given respect from the beginning.

I hope the warning given to the Korean lady was a final warning not just a written warning. I mean she allegedly led a junior staff to resign

And your inability to admit wrongdoing without accusing a witness of '' Mistruths'' is shameless.

And no disrespect intended but I am 100% sure whoever responded to that post was not a witness because everyone there could not articulate...

I will not be returning there any time soon as I am very disappointed at how their African employees are being treated.

The market place was very interesting I have always enjoyed my encounter with the staff members who are always eager to help and suggest different things to try.

I encountered an incident yesterday (11th of October 2022) where a Korean Lady was aggressively shouting at a black staff member to a point of getting physical with her.

Other customers tried to intervene but she continued shouting at the staff member, who was in tears.

One of the customers managed to pull the Korean lady away and proceeded to pray for her but she continued grinning with no remorse all the way.

I later learned that this was the norm at the store, the African people there are severely ill treated and beaten (especially the women) and are always threatened with losing their jobs.... They do not have any signed contracts or any payslip or UIF etc...

We tried to encourage the staff to report this incident, but out of fear they were not keen.

I cannot force them but I know that sharing this will raise awareness, you will decide how you can help the employees because they matter and have rights as Human...

I hardly review a store that sells groceries, but Market Kokoro at Rivonia does street foods that you can eat there or take it away. I think this concept is so brilliant because if you never tried or want to try Korean foods, this is the place to go. And if you like it, you can buy the items there to make it at home. This review is for cooked food and not what they sell there.

They offered a variety of choices - dumplings, Korean-styled fried chicken, corn dogs, spring rolls, udons, Korean rice cakes, gimbap and many more. We went for the sets, which are udon & gimbap set for R100 and tteokbokki & fried fritters set for R80. It is so worth the value. Most items are below R100, and only the noodle soups are above R100. If you are looking for a quick lunch, this is the place to go. Buy a meal, a side dish like kimchi, a drink and a dessert for R200!!! The fish-shaped ice-cream is green tea with red beans. A very Asian flavour.

You make an order and pay at the counter. They will bring your cooked food to the table....
