Let’s start with the good: the pastries, buns, and cakes at La Mas Rika are genuinely tasty. Flaky, rich, and clearly made with skill—this place knows how to bake.

But oh, the service. Possibly the gloomiest staff I’ve ever encountered in a pastry shop. Not a smile, not a hint of warmth—just a vibe that says, “Why are you even here?”

And don’t even think about asking for a box. They’ll try to stuff your delicate pastries into flimsy paper sleeves, turning your €4–7 treasures into sad, flaky rubble. If you dare to ask for proper packaging, brace yourself: you’ll get a box—but also a look of pure disapproval, as if you’ve just asked them to climb a mountain.

It’s a shame, because the sweets really are good. But no pastry is quite sweet enough to make up for that...

We called in here on the off chance during a stroll through the back streets, and were enticed by the lovely displays of croissants and pastries in the window. We sat outside, where they have a few simple tables and chairs, ordering almond croissants and coffees. The service was friendly and quick and the coffee and pastries lovely! The patisserie bakes its own pastries at the rear of the shop - we saw fresh items being brought out to fill the displays - and the almond croissants, soft and fluffy with a delicious chocolate and almond pastries, were simply divine, and the best we’ve had this trip.

We saw the shop in an Instagram video and decided to go to try the sweets and upload an Instagram story. We bought sweets but the girl was so careless and clumsy that she caught one of the sweets with the tongs and broke it and put it broken inside the bag. Also she wanted to put them all together in a paper bag while they all had chocolates on the top. One of the sweets we tried was hard. My dessert was nice I would buy it again but I would advise the shop owners to buy boxes for people who want to take their sweets with them and the staff to be more polite and serve customers better.
