Avoid If You Value Honesty and Customer Service – A €6,000 Disappointment
Review: I’m genuinely shocked by the way Leroy Merlin has handled this, especially given I spent over €6,000 on their so-called high-end Diamond range air conditioning system. The initial experience felt reassuring—the sales consultant spoke good English, and after paying a substantial amount for both units and installation, I messaged him via WhatsApp to confirm there would be no extra charges. He confirmed this. Later, when I raised concerns again, both he and the installer reconfirmed in writing that no additional fees would apply, even if extra work was required.
But here’s the catch: once installation day arrived, they suddenly refused to proceed, citing that my house doesn’t have a ground wire in one of the sockets—something they were already told about and even shown photos of in advance. It's also worth noting that the larger unit was to be wired directly into the fuse board, and they accepted this. But when it came to the smaller unit, they simply refused to adapt, even though a direct connection would have resolved it. They just left. No solution, no accountability.
To be clear, this all happened after they secured the sale using false reassurances. They knew the layout, they had the fuse board photos, and they agreed to it all in advance. And let’s not forget Leroy Merlin’s fine print: if the cable run is over 3 metres, you pay extra. Yet I was explicitly told I wouldn’t—twice. So which is it?
Even worse, when I returned to the store to get clarification, the same sales consultant who had been happily communicating in English suddenly "couldn't speak English anymore." His dismissive attitude and huffing was borderline insulting. I’ve only lived in Spain for a few weeks and am learning the language, but this felt like a blatant attempt to avoid responsibility.
My lawyer has reviewed everything—including the WhatsApp messages—and advised me to stand my ground. And I will.

Read moreTHIS IS A WARNING: Spend your money elsewhere! After waiting for 14 days for an installation, they decided to not inform us that the schedules installation was not going to happen. We called, but the NR is for Madrid and their teleworkers are able to do nothing, not even to transfer you to the store (absolutely useless). After going to the store today (21st, 1 day after the installation was supposed to happened) they tell us that now it can only be done by the 31st. 11 more days waiting without a phonecall, an email, nothing, the most unprofessional behaviour ever. So, make sure you have 25 days to wait for the airco and that you don't mind paying and not getting even slightly the service you hired. Oh, and compensation? Zero. So we're...
Read moreI like Leroy Merlin. I have used them several times for online shopping, but I prefer to visit the store for the massive amount of products. The store itself is very big, there are plenty of tills and a toilet.
There are all kinds of home decoration and DIY items and a lorge amount of garden products too. There are also special areas for paint, kitchens, bathrooms and double glazing with experts on hand to give specialist advice and help design kitchens etc.
The store is not currently accessed from inside Nevada shopping mall I presume it is something to do with covid measures. But all you need to do is come outside and downstairs from the food court, or outside from the lower floor and there is a large entrance from the...
