Sombreros Gorostiaga — Local services in Bilbao

I’m going to leave this review in English so I can leave my fellow English-speaking travelers a proper review, and others the most satisfying translations in your local language. I contacted don Emilio via WhatsApp from the link on his Facebook page, which I found from his entertaining and informative YT videos on how to wear a proper basque txapela and the different kinds of them. Google it, you’ll be amused too!

He responded on WhatsApp and from there we worked out a new collection of fabulous Basque txapelas for me. He was so patient and responsive over text. (Of course being a native Spanish speaker myself helped us communicate better.)

He’s direct and clear, working to run his business online and his shop. I paid for my order via his website shopping cart and it was really satisfying that he provided a tracking number.

I’ve also come to appreciate the particular txapelas he sent me because 1) they’re 100% basque master pieces, the wool is so dense and beautiful 2) his labels sewed on the lining of the SuperLujos are house Gorostiaga nobility — looks so gorgeous, and if you’re into boinas-txapelas-berets you know what I mean when you see the “etiquetas” in the Gorostiaga hats.
