We recently had a wonderful guided PINTXO tour with Basque Bites. Our guide Gregory was extremely informative about Basque history, culture and the many PINTXO bars that are sprinkled throughout the old town centre. Gregory gave a brief description of the different surrounding areas near the old town and explained the importance of certain buildings. He shared stories of the Basque separatist struggle and its current independence. We were delighted that he is obviously a local identity with chiefs, local artists and bar staff all greeting him warmly. He was attentive to our food requirements and our specific tastes. He shared key basque words and phrases, which made us more comfortable in the slightly challenging chaotic bar atmosphere. The next day as promised he followed up with some emails detailing Basque phrases and links to other bars in surrounding areas. An excellent five star tour, that I would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in truly understanding and wishing to experience PINTXO culture like a local. Ken Baxter -...
Read moreWe can't say enough or give higher praise for Gregory and Basque Bites. From before the tour started to the actual tour, Gregory was extremely informative and helpful. He fine-tuned a tour that highlighted our family history and gave us the most vast experience of the Basque Country. Every day was filled with visits ranging from Bilbao, Gernika, Gaztelugatxe, San Sebastián, The French Basque Country, Pamplona, Estella, and the list goes on! Ten days of top-tier, unique accommodations and FOOD! The food was amazing! Our welcome dinner was a private, interactive PINTXO workshop, a great way to start off our culinary delights. Walking tours in each city, accompanied by the best places to eat and history, all rolled into one. Gregory surely needs an award for planning and handling all the details of our tour of 18. If you are planning a trip to the Basque Country and want to experience everything, food, and sights, Basque Bites is who you want to book with. Highly recommended for the best time of your life! Read moreGreg was an amazing guide. We learned so much about San Sebastián and it’s incredible food scene and culture, and yet the approach was very casual and comfortable. Like meeting an old friend for a stroll and drinks. We had our toddler with us and she had a couple of meltdowns, but Greg was very patient with us. We loved the market tour and felt it was a great way for Greg to gage how adventurous of eaters we are. We told him to take us all the way and he didn’t disappoint. Blood sausage, pig ear, and sea urchin just to name a few of the Pintxos he exposed us to. But I have feeling if you’ve got a high ick factor he can find you plenty of amazing nibbles you’ll enjoy. We also felt we got so much value out of all of his other helpful suggestions. He sent us a follow up email with other places we should check out after the tour in the Gros neighborhood where we were staying. In short; we had a blast and I would say if you do nothing else in Donostia-San Sebastián, book a tour with Gregory. You...
