Baronen — Local services in Kalmar kommun

The main advantage of this little shopping centre is its location. It is placed just by the little harbour of Kalmar, the tourist information centre, the university, the central train station and the old city.

In summer the place is vibing. On a warm and sunny day, one might feel lucky to find a free place to sit on its back decking facing the sea, while enjoying an ice cream. There is even a coffee shops/restaurant where one might enjoy a nice coffee/lunch with a sea view.

Parking in the area can be tricky. One must pay for parking in that area and it is notoriously known for costly parking fines.

Barone has a nice little cinema. Before the pandemic, one could enjoy there some new releases.

Inside the shopping centre, one can find a variety of fashion shops, a few coffee shops/restaurants, a small supermarket, a pharmacy, shoe shops, cosmetics shops, jewellery and watches, a mobile phone repair service and a McDonald's. There is even a home improvement, leisure, electric and multimedia products store, of the nordic chain Class Olsson. The local joke (right after righteously pointing out the need to reject any gender-related stereotypes) is that Class Olsson is the baby sitter for men while the women are taking their time shopping.

As rent in the area is high, prices for the majority of the merchandise sold at the Baronen is on the higher rates of the scale.

Nice shopping mall near the harbor of Kalmar, and close to the city centre. A good selection of shops and stores. The McDonalds and a Coop are open way beyond the shoppingmalls opening hours.

The location is excaptionally good. Easy to find with lovely views, however I feel the place is a missed potential. It's small, with only a few stores, not much to choose from.
