Källaren Kronan — Restaurant in Kalmar kommun

A half-inch barely charred slab of meat does not a steak make. Seriously, it was literally a centimeter thick. I almost wept at this watery slab. It was amazing that they somehow managed to put color on it and still stay medium rare. But not enough color, and not enough to render the fat, not really.

This place takes the late nineties to new heights. I bet if I ordered a créme brulee it would come out soft, and with no crisp. The bread is in that magical dead zone between cake and three-days-old, with a hint of rosemary or something just as unassuming.

It's like they left the entire restaurant out, letting it get increasingly stale and unappealing. Like a slightly overripe banana that is juuuust shy of being unedible. I'll bet top dollar the owner and head chef has "been in the game" for decades, and were talented somewhere in the mid-nineties.

Meat with no char, bread with no distinguishable crust, desserts from the eighties. The best thing about this place was the service, the locale, and maybe the napkins.

Any half-assed pub with a deep frier is better bang for your...

Very nice food from start to finish. Service is incredibly rushed and it's soooooo dark in there that we have to use our torches on our mobiles to see the menu and what we are eating. At no point any effort was made,done nor help offered to put a light on or move to the other part of the restaurant where it was brighter,despite hardly any clients dining. We felt like we were an inconvenience for the waitress and should leave as soon as possible....it's a great shame as we would have liked to read the story of the cellar and study the menu...

Vi valde ”månadens meny” 3 rätter. Varje rätt hade två alternativ och vi valde olika på allt. I väntan på förrätten serverades olika sorters bröd med smör. Förrätterna var superb. Min sallad supersnygg och lika god. Maken var lika nöjd med sin toast Skagen. Jag hann dock inte fotografera innan jag började äta. Sansade mig till huvudrätten, gös på grönsaksbädd. Perfekt tillagad, kanske överdrivet mycket sås på tallriken (jag är ingen såsperson) och fina små potatisar. Den baconlindade chevrefyllda kycklingen serverad med potatiskaka var felfri också. Trevlig personal och väldigt mysig miljö. Efterrätterna; min bärpaj med vaniljglass och makens brylepudding blev nästan överflödig och höll inte riktigt måttet jämfört med de andra rätterna. Vilket inte på något sätt betyder att det var dåligt på något sätt. En liten miss med kaffet som serverades för tidigt är det enda att anmärka på när det gäller servicen. Sedan kan jag tycka att det känns lite konstigt att bara kunna erbjuda bryggkaffe, men helheten gör att vi är nöjda och glada...
