Positive: Great haircut from Echo, who was skilled, speedy and personable. Relatively close to MRT; reasonably attractive shop; high prices justified due to premium service and English-speaker barbers. Well, most of them.
Con: Several instances of staff incompetence. I specifically asked for a barber who spoke English when I made my appointment, but was initially assigned someone who didn’t speak a word.
Also, the cashier ran my credit card through the machine wrong, but loudly blamed me instead, saying that my card was the problem. The situation was very embarrassing, and a well-meaning but condescending customer actually inserted himself in the middle of the conversation, offering to pay for me since the cashier said out loud that I “must not have any money.” Unprofessional and ridiculous!
On the subject of credit card payment, the shop also has a minimum credit card charge of NT$1,500 (about 50 USD), which is absolutely ridiculous in 2019, not to mention in clear violation of the VISA/Mastercard merchant agreements.
Conclusion: On the basis of the haircut alone, I would love to make Craftsmanship my regular Taiwan barber shop. However, due to the behavior and lack of competence demonstrated by the cashier, I’m not sure if this will...
Read moreHORRIBLE SERVICE. I made an appointment to this barbershop after reading rave reviews online. I expected a great experience and yet it was the WORST HAIRCUT I'VE GOTTEN IN TAIWAN. I have been living in Taiwan 3 years and the service in this place was way bellow average. I went there and i was not even offered water. A lot of people in their reviews said they got offered beers, well, they didn't offer me even water. When I explained the haircut i wanted to the stylist, she said she knew what I wanted. She didn't. She cut my hair way too short and did not followed my instructions. While most people last over 1 hour there, my haircut was done (badly done) in 30 minutes. For $1000ntd I certainly DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. Bad customer service, bad haircut and subpar experience in general. Go spend your...
Read moreLast day of 2019, I went there in the morning and asked for an English speaker barber and scheduled for 13:00. Getting there at the time, the barber couldn’t speak English but I was in a good mood and didn’t complain. His colleague could translate and surprisingly, it was the best hair cut and beard trimming I have ever had! The guy was millimetric and detail obsessed and took his time to get it done. I was so relaxed that I fell asleep, even the guy handling a razor. In a nutshell, 1200 ntd for the hair cut and beard trimming. Time to pay, they informed the minimum value to pay in credit card is 1500 ntd, I told them I don’t have cash and they cut the slack and could make it. Highly...
