For context, I ordered a room for 4 adults where the website suggested the family room as it was cheaper than booking 2 rooms. Unfortunately the family room was on the ground floor where check-ins are so it was quite noisy during most nights.
• Soundproofing is awful as you can hear sounds from other floors and outside on the road. When i call for service i can hear the dial tone in the lobby.
• Dirty and very old flooring, walls, tiles, bathroom is mouldy. The table is too small for a family room and there are only 2 chairs.
• Not sure why the tiles get abnormally dirty very frequently, the mould gets worse every passing day.
• False advertising - images showed very new and clean rooms and bathroom • Room was not cleaned before check-in, making up the room was only changing the bedsheets and bath towels. Bed sheets look stained even though they were changed. Bed is too soft, personally not used to it. They dont tie the quilt cover either. Floor was probably sweeped but looked worser than before.
• Lots of mosquitoes, had to buy lots of cleaning supplies for the room such as toilet stain remover, anti mosquito repellent, bug spray.
• Toilet seat and light above the basin was broken we had to get them to fix it.
• I asked for more bottles of water but they said they can only give 4 bottles because we have 4 people. Had to buy our own water every other day because 600ml is not enough for the whole day.
• There is no kitchen, no microwave no washing machine, every 3-4 days we have to waste time to go out and wash at a laundromat. Thankfully it isn't too far, 10 min walk or 2 stops by bus.
• Only 1 socket available for kettle. There is extension cable being used for the TV. We decided to unplug the TV and use it to charge our devices. No socket in the bathroom, everytime we need to use the hairdryer we have to unplug the kettle socket. Hairdryer is not strong and takes a long time to dry my hair.
• Fortunately the location is good with lots of food nearby, night market and transportation for both bus and the MRT
• Overall everyday there is a lot of noise throughout the day and night because the room is in the lobby. These people are not considerate of us at all. I told them to be quieter but they ended up getting louder again and it's already 12am.
• On Google it says it is a 3 star hotel but it is not even a star. I would give 0 stars if it was possible. It makes no sense why they wouldn't have money to renovate the place because it is in a very rich district...
Read moreThis hotel is called the Guide Hotel Taipei Xinyi on Booking.com and other websites so it was hard to find when I arrived in Taipei as it is called HolyPro Hotel on Google maps. I stopped at another nearby hotel to ask for directions and thankfully they helped me locate it. It is in an excellent location a short 2-3 minute walk from the World Trade Centre subway/MRT station on the red line so you can travel all over Taipei very easily and the subway is cheap and easy to use if you purchase an easy travel card for $100-200 TWD. Taipei 101, a huge shopping centre with a famous observation deck, is a 5 minute walk away.
The hotel has a small reception area on the ground floor and the check-in process is a self-service machine in the lobby so have your QR code and booking details ready and it will give you a card for your room. There is a human member of staff at reception during the day as this person cleans the rooms and pretty much does everything in the hotel but I arrived late in the evening after 10pm so I had to use the machine.
This is a 3-star hotel so do not expect luxury - you get what you pay for! The rooms are small but they are clean have everything you need including a comfortable bed, a bathroom with a hot shower, a TV, small refrigerator, a hair dryer and most importantly air conditioning!! My room also had a little desk space to work from which was great and a small single wardrobe to hang up clothes. There is tea/coffee and bottles of cold water in the room when you arrive which is very nice and welcoming after a long journey.
There is also a 7 Eleven and Family Mart a 1-minute walk down the street which have lots of food, snacks and drinks that are cheap if you are hungry and there is a night market a few blocks away. The best thing about Taipei is the food and the people so make the most of staying in this great central location with lots of tourist attractions a few subways...
Read moreI stayed here for my 10 day quarantine. It's a great deal for a good sized room and three meals a day. The staff were very good at communicating through Line, giving me instructions before my arrival and even checking with me right after my arrival at the airport. They offered great service throughout my stay. I got the double deluxe room. The hotel is older so it is dated and there is a little wear and tear. The room was mostly clean, but I do wish they cleaned more since there was dust in some areas and there was a ring at the base of the bathroom faucet that I had to clean. The shades next to the tub had dark spots. Other than these minor things, it was a nice room with a large, comfortable bed. The bathtub was also very big which was a fun surprise. The food was very good. They ordered from nearby restaurants and they were different every day. There were some snacks, tea bags, coffee and large bottles of water in the room when I arrived and they gave me a bowl of fruit one of the days. I found a fun surprise. One of the switches turns on a black light and then you see fish and turtles on...
