As others have mentioned the view is beautiful at the top. We went around which is probably when it is the hottest but also the quietest. If you take the steps on the side they offer some shade. The beginning steps are very small and steep so do be careful especially when coming down.
It was a pleasant surprise to find a monk sitting quietly right at the top and initially we thought he was a statue until he turned to look at us. You can request for a blessing and for people wearing shorts etc they do need to cover up to the knees to receive a blessing. There is cloth available nearby to do so. You can make a monetary offering into boxes scattered around the place.
It's a bit of a trek from Aonang but nice to see the food stalls along the way. There is no shade so bring a hat or umbrella...
Read moreWell worth a visit. The main steps are steep and narrow. There's more normal steps to the left and right of the main steps - easier to walk up and down. There's several levels so you can stop and rest a bit on your way up and down. The last set of steps up to the Buddha are steep and narrow. It's well worth the effort to climb the steps. The views are stunning from the top 2 levels. I use a walking stick and am reasonably fit, so managed the climb ok - all those gym sessions paid off. We went early in the day - around 10am, so it wasn't too hot, or too busy. There's very little parking there - we found a place to park our motorbike. There are basic restrooms - take your own hand sanitiser and toilet paper. No place to buy water or other refreshments - there is a café nearby I...
Read moreMountain Buddha temple is a relatively unknown gem. Not really on the tourist radar but a wonderful place to visit. About 3 km from Ao Nang beach, took us about 35 minutes to walk there. Very peaceful place with barely no tourist during low and high season. I was also here in February and there was hardly anyone here so was very relaxing and peaceful. The climb to the top is a little more than 100 steps and the view from up top is spectacular. You can see for miles the surrounding area and all the limestone karsts! Entrance is free but it’s nice to leave a donation if you desire. There is a temple at the summit so I suggest...
