The new train station was sleek, clean and efficient, and the older station just a minute walk away for train buffs and photo ops. Super clean toilets and friendly staff who spotted us with a toddler and held the platform lift for us.
The low stars are for the taxi mafia which plough this area. My hotel was only 800m away and I would have typically walked but I have a toddler + luggage with me. Ordered a Grab (did prior research to see if I could use Grab in Hua Hin or if there were any issues - didn't find any bad feedback online, seems like Grab is permissible in Hua Hin and the last reported fight was back in 2018.) A taxi mafia still came and harassed my Grab driver. Fortunately she was unbeaten and yelled back and videoed him but our ride was delayed for a while, with our toddler frightened by the semi-violent alceration. But it was a teachable moment and just, trying to get this info out there for future travellers used to using Grab in other Thai cities like BKK and CNX. Just walk away from the two old and new main stations to book a Grab and it should be fine. If I knew this was going to happen, I wouldn't have put my poor Grab driver in this situation.
(For the record, we chose an official pick-up point at the old station with signs clearly marked out. There were no signs prohibiting Grab pick-ups at the zone, unlike say, similarly in Bali or other areas...

Read moreA charming and historical spot with great character! Hua Hin Train Station is one of the most beautiful and unique train stations in Thailand, with its traditional colonial-style architecture and vibrant colors. The station is well-maintained, and you can feel the rich history as soon as you step onto the platform.
Recently, a new train terminal has been constructed, offering added convenience for travelers. You can even store your bags and luggage in a secure room if you don’t want to carry them around, which is a great service. We took an ordinary train from Hua Hin to Bangkok, and it was incredibly affordable—only 44 baht! The journey was comfortable, but if you’re looking for a more luxurious experience with air conditioning, I recommend booking in advance for better seats.
The station is conveniently located, close to the town center and easily accessible from local transportation options. However, it can get a bit crowded during peak times, so be prepared for that. Also, the station facilities like bathrooms could use some improvements to make it even more comfortable for travelers.
Overall, it’s a lovely spot to visit, whether you’re catching a train or just exploring Hua Hin’s...
