In short: run down, dirty facilities and bedsheets, new management with surprisingly rude staff, dirty pool, no hot shower, no wifi, dodgy area. A couple other guests and their kids got food poisoned after breakfast and no one even apologised! :( Longer story: We booked this place hoping to have a lovely stay in our last two nights in Bangkok. We arrived at 6.30am after a long overnight bus trip, without having slept at all that night, but happily the room was ready. ...Then they asked us to pay 500baht for early check-in. We found it steep, but just wanted to take a hot shower and sleep, so we payed the extra fee. Then we jumped into the shower only to discover that it had no hot water at all! The receptionist asked us to wait after breakfast for their plumber to come and fix it. We reminded them that we paid early check-in to shower and sleep, not to wait for their plumber and see him working. Picture of him attached! XD After lots of back and forth, they offered us a way cheaper room, with two separate beds instead of a double, further from the pool, at the same price! Thanks for the "downgrade", but nope. They had other rooms available online, they just weren't willing to upgrade us. We asked for a refund since they seem unable to provide a room with the conditions we payed for, and the receptionist asked us to stay in the room and wait for her to check the refund policy and call us. After 40min waiting, totally exhausted, we called her and turns out she was just buying time to get the plumber there! :( We ended up looking at the plumber work, going in and out of our room, till he disappeared. Still no hot water!! It had been 2 hours since we checked in! We asked again for a refund so we could go somewhere else and sleep, or at least a refund for the early check-in. The guy in the reception agreed on an early check-in refund, and informed us that it will take 1-2 days to go back to our bank account. We were happy that at least they took some responsibility for the issues, nap, and got ready for the day. At night when we came back we asked about the issues and they confirmed everything had been fixed, but it was a total lie! Still no wifi, no hot water! Seeing their style, we asked if the early check-in refund had been processed, and they said that they never said that! We were so shocked, couldn’t believe they would just lie like that! After confronting them, the receptionist recognised he promised it, but then his manager said he shouldn’t have. So professional… It was like trying to discuss with a 5 years old. Oh, and they never apologised. At 10:30pm they offered us another room with hot water, uglier and as far from the pool as it gets. Great to move room in the middle of the night! We wanted a hot shower, so we moved and called it a day. We asked them to solve the early check-in refund, and they promised their manager would call us next morning. No one called. What a surprise. All their efforts seem to be into keeping the client there no matter what (lies galore), and to keep your money at any cost. Lovely. Never seen anything like this before. We felt so ripped off and disrespected :( Two families that we met there mentioned that they got food poisoned after the breakfast the first day, so they asked for a refund on the breakfast (they didn't want to eat it anymore, for obvious reasons), and the staff denied the food poisoning, and the refund too (surprise, surprise). The neighbourhood is quite sketchy, we had never seen before people sniffing glue in Thailand! Seems to be a trend in this area. No one seem violent, though. Just high. The only thing we liked is that they offer free bicycles to the guests! They have only 4, so you gotta be quick in the morning! It was great to cycle around the city. We have been to Bangkok many many times, and for this price you can definitely find cleaner, nicer properties with way more professional staff. They are usually really lovely and helpful in Thailand. This property may be, unfortunately, the great exception.

I don't know about negative reviews but our room was perfect. I'm very picky when it comes to room cleaning, but ours was spot on. The bed was fresh and comfy. Even the sheets and towels were pristine clean, no stains, no hair, at least for us during our 4 night stay. And you know most hotels including really nice ones don't always manage to have that... They have great hand soap, shampoo and shower gel. Breakfast is simple but great. They can make you any type of eggs on demand. Wi-Fi was strong as it's a different one in every room. The staff, including house keepers, is very friendly and professional. The hotel is not too crowded, which is what we were looking for. The AC can get pretty loud but it does the job. The location may seem secluded but you can walk about 15min to one of the "old routard tourissy" area with restaurants and tourists and all; the hotel can provide free tuk tuk commuting to one of their specific spot (I forgot which one ask them about it); they can lend you a bike if you just wanna stroll nearby; or we found out you can walk about 15min to the Hua Chang Pier and take the shuttle boat for only 9 to 11 bahts. It's pretty regular and quick and gets you downtown to all those shopping malls. It's kinda like their floating bus. All local people use it to get to work and go home. So it's a nice and must-have experience. ***Only downside ***was that the pool, which looked beautiful on those pics, was totally closed cause it was getting renovated and they didn't give us **any discount when they obviously should have and that one lady was sooo rude about it too** . Will return if the new pool is as great as the rest.

Rooms 4 out of 5 I got a studio which was nice and spacious. Bed, bedding, linen were wonderful. Bathroom was good. Amenities in rooms 2 out of 5 The sockets did not take my laptop charger. There was no iron in the room and on asking about it at reception I was told there was only one iron for the hotel and someone else had taken it. Got it the second day. Internet was good. The TV had only a handful.of local channels, no international channels nor was it a smart TV that could be connected to YouTube. I had to watch TV on my phone throughout. Service 2 out of 5 Restaurant next to the hotel closes at 5pm and there's no room service. If you want to eat after 8pm there are few good options close by. Most local restaurants in the area close at 8, kitchens close at 745pm. Staff could not understand English. Location; depends on where you want to go. For Meetings at UN ESCAP it's a walking distance. For all other things it's very far. No convenient public transport close by and taxis took an hour for example to central world due to traffic and they also charge a lot. There's a nice pool but couldn't use it as I was too busy.

This hotel was airy and spacious. An interesting design based on the original Nanda family home and cool and welcoming with English spoken. The staff were friendly, kind and helpful throughout the hotel. We had a spacious De Luxe Twin room with a roomy shower room/toilet. The beds were clean and comfortable and we had a mini fridge/ safe / Air con and tv and room service. We stayed on and off for six days and always had the same room. There was fresh bottled water every day. The hotel stored our luggage when we were away in Chiang Mai and Kanchanaburi - so helpful. The porters took it up and down for us. There was a breakfast included in the price. It offered a mixed buffet of Thai and western food. All very good. Almost every morning I had boiled eggs and could chose from a picture menu how long I wanted them boiled! Perfect. We had a couple of evening meals in the restaurant which were also very tasty and beautifully served. There was an indoor pool. Not really big enough for a proper swim, but in an attractive lounging area and was refreshing after a day out. Sometimes there was a free Tuk Tuk to the Grand Palace area. . The location was not really near public transport, but it was near little back streets where people were working at various trades, so to walk through them was very enlightening. In the information in the bedroom, there were some very helpful tips to spending time in Thailand.||We loved the Nanda Hotel and gratefully returned to its cool charms after a hot sticky day in...
