Had a fridge/freezer delivered on the 4th after a weeks wait. The delivery driver dropped it getting it out of the van and couldn't deliver as the product was unsafe.
Spoke with Andrew (the store manager at this branch). Explained that we had just moved house and had no fridge freezer which was a bit tricky as we have a toddler who needs fresh milk and my wife is pregnant. He said we couldn't get it redelivered for at least a month. I was not offered a replacement model or any help to find a suitable alternative just a discount.
I asked Andrew if he would do something to help given it was not our fault the fridge was not delivered and broken by the Curry/PC World delivery men, we needed a Fridge urgently and the only similar model available was more expensive. He offered me a £20 discount which I found quite appalling given the inconvenience.
We had just done a big food shop on the 4th in anticipation of the Fridge arriving that day so now we faced an even longer wait with no fridge, an expensive food shop £100 which would go to waste as we had no where to put it, and now faced with £129.99 bill for a more expensive fridge (the only one in stock). So effectively we would be out of pockets for £230 pounds plush the inconvenience of no fridge for another 4-5 days.
When I pressed Andrew on this, and asked him where he got Ā£20 figure from he said it was manager discretion. He was quite rude about this, not what you would expect from someone in his position. He eventually offered me a Ā£40 reduction, which was strange that he had miraculously raised it from Ā£20. I explained to him about our inconvenience, wasted food shop and my pregnant wife. He didnāt seem to really care or want to help.
Another helpful employee suggest we take the display model. On inspection it had a few dents in the side and back. I told Andrew we were really desperate for a fridge so would take it, but didnāt really want to pay full price for a Ā£500 pound fridge which had dents and had been on display in a store. He again offered a Ā£40 discount.
I found this customer service quite appalling and the attitude of Andrew was not helpful and quite rude. Not what you would expect from a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited this store to buy a PC monitor. Simple, right? 8 models on display. Good start. Ideally wanted 24" so that cut me down to 3 options. Only one of three was available to buy - display models are not for sale. In fact of the 8 on display there were on 3 that could actually be purchased. The one available to see and buy had only one HDMI port ā not what i was after. Fortunately there were other 24" monitors in boxes below the display models. Managed to. Prize a pleasant member of staff away from higher margin areas of the store but told us we could not open boxes to inspect products. I explained the matter of HDMI ports for which he showed me images from PC World web site. I explained we were taking monitor to relative in another town and since we are not from Bath it would be highly inconvenient if the image of the back of this model turned out to be incorrect. He had to ask manager to open box. Grateful of that as the image on web site did not match the product and would have been no good. Gave up and walked out empty handed having entered with intention to buy.
Ask me why the retail environment is dying and there is your answer. Yes, PC World can order in for collection next day...but there notable big-name online stores that will do that and deliver to my relative free of charge. Physical stock available today and staff who know their products rather than just reading off the shelf label: that is the retail advantage...or at least, it was! Went to CEX in Bath. Brought superior monitor for same money. Not new but barely touched. CEX offer 2 years warranty to PC...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen shopping here for years. For me, after hunting online, it's where I go to look at everything electrical. Without briciks and mortar retailers, we'll all be buying from pictures. I've found the staff to be relatively knowledgeable. C'mon guys, let's not forget what the staff get paid. Returns & repairs have been dealt with efficiently and fairly. Avoided buying expensive extended cover though. As a bonus, I often find some better products than I've managed to find online and at reasonable price. Good product pickers.
Originally 2 stores, Currys and PC World. Joined into one building and now cut in half again, the other being M&S food, due no doubt to online shopping. Bath would losing a lot, if pc world decided to consolidate to Bristol, Cribbs and Chippenham. I've occasionally had to trek to these stores and didn't enjoy the experience.
This is because this company is completely backward as it cannot transfer items between stores. This alone will be the companies downfall. Staff also completely ham-strung in not being able to offer anything to entice you buy something else, if they don't have your choice in stock. All they can do is look online, which I can do from my sofa. Update- Just come back from a trip to PC world. Can't have an item in the colour I want. None in the warehouse, so no home delivery. They can reserve it in a store, for collection, meaning a 150mile+ round trip. No thanks. This is becoming a very familiar story. Feel I'm being pushed away, to...
