Darley Street Market: A Vibrant New Chapter for Bradford City Centre

Bradford's new Darley Street Market is a game-changer for the city centre. This three-floor market is a fantastic upgrade, offering a fresh and exciting experience that's already bringing a new buzz to Darley Street.

The Fresh Food Hall features beloved local traders like Taplins Butchers and Solly's, alongside Ikhlas Halal Meat and Priestley Fish, ensuring top-quality produce. The Lifestyle Hall offers a diverse mix of non-food vendors, including florists, fashion, and household goods.

But the real highlight is the Darley Street Kitchen. This vibrant food court is a culinary paradise, with independent vendors serving everything from Caribbean jerk chicken and Mexican fare to Sri Lankan dishes and wood-fired pizzas, making it a perfect spot for any time of day. The outdoor viewing balcony with seating and a stage is a brilliant touch, promising a lively atmosphere. The market's modern and spacious design is a welcome change, praised for its vibrant and inviting ambiance. It's a significant step forward for Bradford as City of Culture 2025, injecting new life into the city centre. Darley Street Market is set to be a popular destination for all, proving to be a truly "great day" for Bradford. A...

This market is one of a kind. It's full of wonderful mostly independent traders giving unique and diversified offerings. I've lived in the Bradford district my whole life and have had pretty consistent negative feelings about the city, this market though is exceptional. It's three floors of wonder. The top floor has such a diverse, exciting and tasty mix of cooked food/resteraunt vendors. The middle floor has a special array of typical high quality market stalls (like in a great UK market), with so much variety, with that unique bradford style. The bottom floor seemed more of a mix of a wide array of stuff, food was in my mind so I didn't really take much notice. There was live music outside and inside too. Seating on the 3rd floor was abundant, with some 3rd floor balcony seating too! It was very busy though so finding a seat took a while. I've never been anywhere else like this market, it is truly special. As much as I often criticise my own home city, this place is something special and unique. I hope it does well and I will be back. This place to me is a unique form of Bradford magic, using it's best strengths...

During a recent visit, the initial exterior appearance presented challenges, with visible encampments and individuals engaging in concerning activities. Upon entry, the escalators were non-operational across all levels, necessitating the use of stairs. The ground floor did not align with my personal needs, and therefore, I will omit it from this evaluation. The second floor, however, offered a commendable selection of fresh food options.

On the upper level, I opted for the jerk chicken, while my companion selected sushi. Unfortunately, my chicken was dry, and the accompanying chips exhibited a stale quality. The sushi was served atop warm rice, partially compromising the sushi's quality.

I intend to revisit and will update this review based on the subsequent experience. Notably, several food vendors are already established in Bradford, including Mr. Ts, Babtooma, and Friesdays, among others.

While the anticipation for this establishment was high, the actual experience proved...

Went today 6.34PM ON Friday 29th August to Darley street market. All the shops were closed only food court was open. Food court had a band playing it was so loud nobody could hear each other, so if your tried to place a food or drink order the staff couldn't hear u, u had to shout, u couldn't talk amongst each other because of the loud band playing, I mean who's bright idea was it to put a live music band in a small room. We ended up sitting on the balcony so we could get away from the noise. And actually have a conversation. But the prices for food n drink are triple. I bought a regular cappuccino and it cost me £3.75 when it got given to me it was more like a small. Pics to prove

Nice place, food was nice, I took my mum for a look, we had breakfast ( tad expensive ), bought a flat cap, bought some steak pies for later, and some cakes from the cake shop. We were too early for the food hall , as this opens at 11am. No signs saying this, (we asked). But we did have a wander around after 11am, to familiarise for the next trip. Loads of dinnertime (lunch if yer posh ) options for a bite to eat. A large screen was playing a movie outside , to keep kids entertained. I was surprised that such a wonderful fresh looking place was right there in the centre of Bradford. Well done to all who made this happen. Bringing back the love to Bradford.
