Glastonbury Tor — Local services in Glastonbury

I have always loved Glastonbury Tor. Another great location here in Somerset. i have walked up and down the hill three different ways. the best is the main pathway as you first turn into Wellhouse lane off the A361. The way takes you up through a couple of fields. on a lovely sunny day this is a great spot to just sit and relax and soak up some sun. as you continue along the path heading up the path turns into steps and theres alot of them. there not too steep but can be hard work on your knees. the stairway hugs the hill as it goes upwards. theres a resting bench half way. before the straight ahead steps to the top and St Michaels roofless Tower. This tower is just cool. I find it full of energy. On a sunny day the soutb side of the tower illuminates so bright yet the North side is in darkness. i find this really cool. The other pathway is from the top of Stone Down lane. This is alot quicker but steeper. again lots of steps. the third way i have walked is from Avalon Orchard. This was more a mountain goat climb but do able. its a stuggle to park near the Tor so park where you can or park in the town and walk up. There are a few disabled spaces at the Stone Down entrance. There isnt any toilets near by so keep this in mind. Ive seen many sunsets and sun rises from here and its lovely. alone or with friends. ive joined in dancing during a summer solstice and spent an evening here while Glastonbury festival was on in 2017. you can see and hear it in the distance. on a warm summers evening, take a blanket to lay on, maybe a drink, snack, book or headphones and relax in the moment. A real gem of Somerset. You dont have to be a hippy to tune into your surroundings but give it a go. you might enjoy it and you night gain a memory you can keep forever. please like my review if...

After much investigation, we followed the advice of other reviews and parked in the carpark of the factory shop nearby. Post code BA6 8DB. £5 for all day parking, payable in the factory. Although not a million miles away from town centre parking, this carpark is conveniently placed for little legs, with easy access to the Tor, Chalice Well Gardens and the Museum. We walked up the Tor on a lovely mild autumn day. It is a relatively short, mildly exhausing trek for the slightly unfit such as myself. The children waltzed up however, we advise caution as the pathway is quite slippy when damp. A few benches to pause at on the ascent. Not enough benches to pause on the Tor itself. Stunning views. Eclectic mix of individuals as in Glastonbury itself. Lots of history however, advisable to do the research yourself as those without knowledge of local history may not be aware of the significance of the hill in the local landscape. Enjoyable walk.
