The beef stew special we had was fantastic, with the crusty bread and butter on the side, especially. Good selection of ales and ciders as well. The staff were friendly but you may wish to sit somewhere busier rather than the quieter bit at front if you wish to be served in a timely manner during their COVID precautions as we had to flag down a staff member on multiple occasions. One nervous bar staff kept spilling our pints as well, though if they were new this is forgivable.

As a very minor aside, another thing that would be good is if their mask-wearing policy during COVID was clearer. Me and my girlfriend duly wore our masks upon entry and in accordance with the general expectation/instruction across the country at this time, wore our masks whenever we got up from our table. My girlfriend was mocked by some other patrons sat behind us for doing so ("ooh, your mask is making me feel so safe right now!"), to which she replied it was only because she didn't want to risk being scolded (or ejected) by the staff. Obviously the behaviour of patrons isn't the staff's fault but a clearer policy (e.g. "masks must be worn except when seated") might have avoided such unpleasantry. Then again I know it's difficult to enforce as there are so many staff who are busy enough as it is without being total jobsworths about masks. And to be fair, I did like the "no sign in, no service; spare the staff your COVID theories!" sign...

Felt the need to write a review on this place to let everyone know who is thinking of going her that their members of staff beat up 15 year old children in there carpark then when a good samaritan comes along to help the child he gets robbed of his 21st birthday presant from around his neck!!!!!avoid like the plague....the landlady usless as well in assistance...what she just wrote is a joke .....my son never done a thing nothing only try to help ....nothing to do with him what happened before .....let's hope police are involved because this is a street robbery and will be investigated as one!!!!!just a little add on... this woman has all the cctv but seems funny because they were serving underage kids shes nothing to the police 🤔🤔🤔🤔very strange. ...very unruly place with idiots in control ..stay away for your own safety!!!!!,oh I've been to the police tho about your thieving staff member.......this place is still rubbish make no mistake its appalling and so is the person that runs it ...let's children in there drinking again and again .....poor sole must need the money !!!!all this can be and is going to be proved it wont be forgotten that's for sure although I'm sure she wishes it would trouble with a pub u never know who's in there have some lovely pics of bar staff serving under age kids...

Booked a Sunday roast for 2pm last week for party of 6. Arrived at 1.45pm, staff looked very confused, told us they had actually run out of food because another pub had shut and all the patrons had come here instead. Offered us 2 beef portions but as we were 6 we said no and would eat elsewhere. Did not receive any apologies at all from staff for being unable to fulfill a prebooked table. No phone call to say they were busy and likely to run out of food. We then had to drive around looking for alternative places for a Sunday roast at last minute (as difficult as you can imagine)

Left a review on Tripadvisor and manager replied stating that "if you were the table that arrived 45 mins late without telling us we presumed you were not coming"

We actually arrived 15 minutes early and the food had all already gone. Disgusting to imply that it was our fault for booking a table with your pub with the expectation of being served.

Shameful service from what sounded like a decent pub from the other...

Recently on the Cask Marque Ale Trail, I arranged to meet friends here for lunch. The accreditation was justified, the Tribute was in excellent condition, although the Butcombe had lost its zest. The lunch that Louis provided was also excellent. The building is somewhat unprepossessing from the outside and the narrow car park entrance needs careful negotiation, but once inside, a lovely Olde Worlde English pub expands out like a Tardis.

Other pubs need to step it up. Walk in, a welcome greeting Sit down Table service that politely asks if I would like another drink when my glass is about to be empty. Accommodating with a fresh environment, nice country pub vibe. They’ve got the covid situation under control as well. I’m really pleased as a local what the owners are doing. Food looks good too!

No doubt about it, the Riffleman is THE best pub in Glastonbury! With a mix of old country pub and grundge, it has a great atmosphere. Also have live band, and delicious food. The staff is friendly but let's not forget about the lovely landlady! Always friendly and caring about her customers. A legend!
