Went here today to see the new Kung Fu Panda film with my partner. We got 2 tickets and a popcorn and drink deal which came to ÂŁ17.50 all together. The popcorn sizes were quite small, the larger one didnât even look like a medium, Iâd recommend bigger sizes or bringing own food as it was quite overpriced for the amount you get. The guy serving us didnât give us tickets or a receipt, went into the cinema screen and sat at the back not knowing there were assigned seats. After about 10 minutes a lady asked to see our ticket as we were sat in someone elseâs seats, had to leave the cinema to go and get our tickets printed by the guy as it seemed they didnât believe that we had bought tickets as we were asked in such a way that it seemed they were trying to imply that we didnât buy tickets. Pretty rude considering they didnât ask to see anyone elseâs tickets; and if we had sat a row ahead they wouldnât have asked to see ours either. Seats were super uncomfortable, felt numb multiple times throughout the film and had to keep shuffling around. There werenât even cup holders in the seats, had to hold own drink the whole way through, as cup holders were reserved for the âpremiumâ chairs. I feel like cup holders are a necessity, as at any other cinema you donât have to pay any extra to put your cup down. When the film was over, everyone left their rubbish all over the floor, as there werenât any bins, which considering ârefurbishmentâ, surely a bin could be put in the cinema room. Seats werenât much higher the further back you got; when in the first seats I sat in at the back, all I could see was the back of the seat above, missing half the screen. When I sat two rows from the front, I could just see the back of someoneâs head the whole way through; although there are limited booster seats available for children, I canât imagine this helping much - if I am an average sized adult and struggled to see, it would be impossible for a small child to see above an adult in front of them. Multiple children were sat on their parents knees struggling to see the screen as it was quite a small screen. Film was probably the only good thing about the cinema, nostalgic atmosphere was good too although it should be taken into account that nostalgic doesnât have to mean opening a run down cinema with barely any changes. The toilets didnât even have a hand dryer. Considering that Merlin Cinemas is a big company, I was expecting more from them. I get that it has just opened, but was hoping to see something positive happen to Ayr, not a run down cinemas where you get accused of theft due to the fault of employees not doing their job correctly. Definitely wonât be coming back here, would rather travel the extra distance to Kilmarnock or Glasgow for a nicer experience where Iâm not uncomfortable and can see the screen! Feels like theyâve just cleared the junk out of this cinemas and reopened it, not even a sign outside. Canât even tell itâs a cinema unless you already knew beforehand.
Summary: good for nostalgia/memories, awful if you want a...
Read moreSo me and my two friends went to watch a Minecraft movie at this cinema and everything was going good but the staff warned us if we do the chicken jockey trend and throw popcorn when jack black as Steve says the phrase âChicken Jockeyâwe will be kicked out so we thought that was the only standard no throw ing food or drink in the cinema so we went in and we were enjoying the movie but we had no cup holders and it was a really uncomfortable seat because they told us that you can upgrade to premium and sit up the back but theyâre didnât mention that you would get a cup holder and a seat that didnât feel like your sitting on a seat made out off diamond so back to my point when the chicken jockey scene was coming my friend that had popcorn finished it by the time it even happened and a member of staff and a woman acting like the manager came in when the scene was near and we were repeating phrases from the trailer for the time we were in there but when the chicken jockey scene came my friend lightly said âchicken jockeyâ and we heard other people saying it much louder than him and I bet they never got kicked out so she ran over to us and kicked us out and told our parents stuff that just never happened like they claim they told us to be quiet multiple times but they told us one time and that was before the screening but they never told us we couldnât repeat the phrase and we didnât get a refund and they pretty much chucked us out for nothing and scammed us but thatâs actually out of order doing that to kids having a...
Read moreIt's absolutely hilarious that sending a review about a company and thay think it's funny to try and be very funny about someone's child's allergy requirements .I wish my child could actually have a KFC as you stated but unfortunately her dietary requirements do not allow her recieve such pleasures! For your own information my child was trying to take into your movie theater a bottle of water and 2 packets of skips crisps ! Not a kfc !
So your condescending reply about kfc was actual extremely rude and actually a little hurtful to be honest . I do truly hope that your reply did make you fell good about yourself because I can assure that my child not having a snack during her movie did not hinder the fact that she enjoyed her movie . In the future I hope that your company clearly not the condescending person that reply to my review! see that not all persons that go to the movies has dietry requirements that are actually quite a burden to parents that cannot fill the child's requirements with simply buying popcorn and peanuts at the counter of a venue which thay...
