Had lunch today, my partner was had a beef burger and I had the highlander burger. Both bases of the bun roll were soggy like they had been dipped in water, the lettace on my burger was shriveled soggy, my partner was feeding my 12 week old son his bottle when the waitress asked if all was OK whick we replied with a nod of the head, my partner at this point had taken 2 bites out his burger. Although my burger bun was less than adequate I ate it due to being hungry and not one for complaining but as my partner ate more of his burger there were pink bits all through the burger which put him off and to whick he never finished, all in all he had approx 5-6 bites. On the young waiter asking if we were done I made a point of stating to him that my partners burger was not fully cooked and I wished to make a complaint to which he lefted the plates and said he would speak to the chef, I expected him to return with a response ... He didnt. I then asked our original waitress for the bill whick she brought with the undercooked burger still full priced on my bill at nearly £13. I went to pay the bill and explained to the waitress that I had made a complaint about the burger and that fact it was undercooked to which she replied chef said it was cooked. I asked her if she looked at it she replied yes so I stated that she saw it was undercooked as it was pink.... She replied its the spices and seasoning that's made it pink, eh no it's undercooked meat. I then proceed to have a debate about wither the burger was cooked, realising I was getting no where I asked for a manager to be she wasn't back till 5pm but she could get me one from next door... Assuming the ayrshire and Galloway and not just some random manager. This other women then appears to tell me that the burger was cooked as she looked at it, to which I again stated so you would have seen it was pink, she stated yes that's just the way it is the chef assured her it was cooked, I again stated that I don't think I should be paying full price for an undercooked burger that my partner was unable to eat. The managers response was you were asked if all was OK and you replied yes. I would like to bring to the attention of the manager now that yes we did reply yes but at the time my partner had taken two bites as he was feeding our 12 week old son, and while on that subject of my partner and my son he was unable to change our son as there was no change facility for males to do this and there is no baby change (or disabled) toilets and the baby change is actually a change mat in the female toilet, when this was brought up with the manager she advised there is my partner needed to ask for the change facility and they would have brought it out and set it up for him in the male toilet (two members of staff saw him go through to the toilet area with our son and nothing was done). So after a long long discussion with the manager who could only really say sorry and refusing to take money off my bill, I paid the bill in full and stated I wouldn't be back as I was a very disappointed customer and that I would make sure to write a review on how bad an experience myself and my family had encountered. So much for the customer is always right. So Meridian Ayr, it is a well known fact that if you have a good experience you will share it with one or two people but if you have a bad experience it will be shared with at least ten people, so make no mistake I will be telling whoever will listen of such a bad...
Read moreVisited here on 2nd September for dinner and had an extremely disappointing experience! We ordered Steak pie with chips, Chicken Fajitas, Flat white coffee and a glass of water. Waited about 30 minutes for food to arrive, I tried one piece of the steak and instantly knew that this wasn’t right, tasted awful and tainted. Looked very dry with no gravy and there was a smell coming from it. Completely put me off. I could only eat the pastry, veg and a little of the chips. May I add the chips weren’t the usual ones that they usually serve, they were French fries. Further disappointment. I left all of the steak in the ashet it was served in due to the way it was, not edible and my partner gave me one of his Chicken Fajitas, this was okay although a lot of oil was present in the iron skillet which doesn’t usually happen either. Really could be doing with more cheese, salsa, sour cream and guacamole being served with these as not enough for the 3 wraps. For the money being charged at £18.95 it’s shocking. Food wasn’t served piping hot like it usually is either. Luke warm, usually the chicken Fajitas come sizzling hot which they weren’t. We have been coming here for over a decade and I have never felt the way we did at the visit. Waitress was kind although didn’t come over to ask if our food was okay. Once our plates were pushed to the edge of the table the waitress came over and upon picking up the plates I said that the steak pie doesn’t taste right at all and gave my reasons as above. She was very apologetic and said she would say to the chef. Came back and said sorry again and that she would take the drinks off but all the drinks were was a glass of water and flat white coffee so basically take £3.50 off! I said I wasn’t happy paying for the steak pie at £18.95 and my reasons why as stated above, also said all I ate was the puff pastry, veg and a little fries and wasn’t happy paying that price for it when the steak is the main component! I also asked if it was a different chef as I have never had a meal like it before here. Waitress replied well yes due to staff shortages the head chef was along at the sister business The Growler and that she didn’t like the dynamics either. The head chef is good but that’s all I’ll say there. In my eyes this just isn’t good enough, management shouldn’t have someone in the kitchen charging these prices if they aren’t competent enough. At the end of the day it’s the customer suffering due to this. Waitress said she would phone the head chef along the road to come down and see what he thought. Didn’t hear anything from the head chef or the so called chef but waitress came over to the table with the bill and said that the steak pie had been taken off the bill. Left a tip for the waitress as she was very apologetic but it shouldn’t have been her doing so. It has put me completely off this place now. If they haven’t got the right staff to do the job it shouldn’t be open. Very...
Read moreWent for dinner tonight, haven't been for years and used to love the food, service was always good as well! But unfortunately just didn't live up to what it used to be in my eyes. After arriving and being sat we weren't seen too for about 20 minutes, understandably busy due to quiz. We ordered the tapas and wine deal, though unfortunately wished we hadn't! We waited roughly half an hour to 40 minutes for 6 tapas plates and a side of fries. Which would normally be alright if we seen loads of food coming out... we were sat where you could see into the kitchen door, one food order other than ours came out during our time there, we watched our plates sit on the pass for a little bit before being brought to us, seemed one of the chefs was a bit more interested in feeding themselves rather than serving other food. When the food came out only 5 of our tapas dishes came and the wrong fries also came, said about the fries and just to leave them as we had already waited a bit, the waitress left before we realised that one of our dishes were missing, after speaking to 2 members of staff regarding it we also decided to leave it. Sad to say it was a let down, everything was overly sweet, the sauces used for one of the dishes was to be 'al vino' but was more like a cheap marinara sauce, same with another dish that stated fresh chilli's and basil, none to be seen anywhere, chicken was dry no mustard which was again stated on the menu, only honey and over all such a let down. When letting the staff know at the end all we got was a lemonade taken off the bill and a sorry. Food was barely touched and we made it obvious regarding our thoughts. Just felt that it was an over...
