This is an embankment road that crosses the Conwy Estuary. In the early 1800s, it was decided to construct a causeway across the estuary to accommodate increasing traffic, and it was opened in 1848 along with the railway. The embankment served as a major crossing point and became part of the Chester and Holyhead Railway. Today, the embankment serves as a key transportation link, carrying both railway and road traffic, connecting North Wales to other parts of the UK. Walking along the Conwy Cob offers stunning views of River Conwy, Conwy Castle and the town.

Conwy Cob is an embankment constructed in the 1820s in order to provide a safe crossing over the Conwy Estuary following an earlier disaster in which a ferry sank at the cost of eleven lives. Being a Victorian project initially the Cob was home to parks and shelters where promenaders could stop and take in the views. The shelters are long gone and the foliage is now a bit scraggy but there are still a few benches to sit on. The Cob also now incorporates a busy road and the London-Holyhead railway line so it's not the oasis of tranquility that it would have been in Victorian times, but walking across from Llandudno Junction is, for my money, the best way to enter the Conwy as you get views of the castle and the quay that you don't get in the same way from...
