Totally overpriced disappointing experience.
My friend had organised a spa day for us all which we were all really looking forward too. The package included lunch and 4 hours in the spa. On arrival we filled out the forms required and were then told "the weekend packages don't include food" which we found to be a little strange, especially considering the cost of the package, but thought maybe we had misread. We then were told there weren't any robes which they did apologise for and didn't pose too much of an issue as we were heading into the spa anyway and wouldn't necessarily need a robe. We were told they'd bring us some in a little while when they had more. The changing rooms were very modern and clean, (the only exception being the costumer dryer which had what looked like black mould inside the lid) plenty of lockers, you then follow it through to get into the pool/steam/sauna/jacuzzi area. When we walked in, we realised there was nowhere to sit. It felt like the afternoon session had been overbooked because it was so busy - I think if more beds had been available it wouldn't have felt so busy. One of my friends had to grab a chair while myself and the other friend were perched on one of the beds. A little while later my friend checked her phone and noticed on the confirmation email it did include food so we went back to the desk to double check. Oona very kindly double checked this for us and confirmed we did have food included so made sure the kitchen could accomodate our request and let us know when it would be ready. When we came out, we still didn't have robes and I felt a little uncomfortable going into the restaurant in my swimsuit with just a towel. It was also very cold in comparison to inside the spa. Luckily Oona took pity on me and managed to find a robe so I wasn't sat shivering. We were brought our food by a really polite friendly young waitress. The original dark haired receptionist then came over and started questioning her right next to us, suggesting that we should not have been given food despite the fact it had been confirmed that it was included (in writing, and by Oona). I felt extremely uncomfortable with her talking right next to us, about us. It was an absolutely appalling show of "customer service". I noticed on our way back Oona seemed to be running around, presumbly fixing the problems caused by the original receptionist. I have to admit the food was delicious, so a star is deserved for that and the wonderful Oona. I would strongly recommend to management that the dark haired receptionist is given some customer service training on how not to make paying customers feel they are a burden. I would not recommend The Harrogate Spa and would warn people off...
Read moreMy partner and I visited the Harrogate Spa today.
Spa day: We opted in for the spa day with Rasul. The spa day lasted for a total of 4 hours (1pm - 5pm). We went on a Friday.
Parking: You don’t have to pay for parking, this is validated at the Spa’s reception. If you do pay for parking, unfortunately this is non-refundable.
Lunch: The spa day included complementary drinks and lunch (or afternoon tea). My partner and I opted in for the lunch option. We both had salmon, this came with couscous, salad, a brownee, and a berry compote. Lunch is served bento-style. It all comes at once, and fairly quickly. Complementary drinks are offered during lunch (you get hot drinks, or options of juices - cranberry, apple, pineapple, orange). Our table was ready when we arrived, and we were served immediately.
Service: Service was impeccable from greeting at reception, to lunch, and throughout the rest of the experience. Honestly, one of the best services we’ve received. Staff is highly attentive.
Rasul: The overall experience was great, we’d do it again. You’re walked through the steps. You are presented with 3 varieties of muds (face, hair, and body). You then sit in this steam room for a while, and rinse off with a monsoon shower. It was quite relaxing.
The spa: Changing rooms were very clean. There were around 100 secure lockers where you can safely leave your belongings. There were also showers and toilets, all well stocked. We also had 0 issues with towels, robes, and slippers. The spa itself isn’t big. You have a swimming pool in the middle, and around the sides one sauna, one steam room, and one jacuzzi. You also have a jacuzzi just outside. There were about 15 or so beds. We were fortunate to have gone on a Friday afternoon, so we had no trouble finding a spot to relax and using the facilities. However you are limited for options.
Overall, we’d recommend visiting the spa. Despite the negative reviews here, we had...
Read moreVery bad service our time slot was given to somebody else, and when we arrived even though we had proof it was their mistake we were told it was tough and could only have a half hour treatment and if we didn't hurry up we would even not get that We had paid for a premium package. We had ordered afternoon tea for 1.30pm and did not get it until 1 50pm and we received no prosecco ,which we did see other people with. They advertise a pastry and coffee on arrival that didn't happen. The treatments were rushed not relaxing and the manicure and pedicure were poor, as the polish the next day peeled off and the manicure the nails were not straight and neat the edges. The The body wrap I was having in half an hour didn't have chance to make a difference to my skin terrible all round, and the list goes on. Part 2 The spa eventually did get in touch with us and offered £40.00, and advised that was all we could have back, due to we had , had some of the services they offered. We complained again and the manager did contact us and said we could go again for free, to prove that the spa was a good experience. We did email and advise this was not possible due to the distance from where we live to the spa and we would like a full refund. Guess what we are now in February 2022, and have been contacted once to advise , that they would be in touch and we are still waiting no surprise there then, due to the previous experience we had, I do not think they realise how this, error they made with our booking had a massive impact on our weekend away, which was already expensive at that, and had been booked...
