The Orchid — Local services in Great Britain

The Orchid was the first Chinese I ever went to with my partner. It used to be lovely, the food was perfect, the delivery time on point. The key words here: 'Used to be."

Said partner and I got food from here tonight, and as they did not advertise the ingredients, I found myself in a near miss with a mushroom. Usually I put down that I cannot eat the fatal fungi, however I had received the same order the last time I got food from here-- last month sometime, and there were none in it.

I then proceeded to have the most infuriating phonecall battle with the place, which ended up with me having to scrape the deadly dish (leaving big nasty red blotches on my skin) BACK into the container to send back to the takeaway. When they rocked up with my dish-- which did not include the rice they said they would include.

Upon delivery, I had to pay another two pound delivery charge- where I had paid a two pound delivery charge for the first one already. The delivery driver seemed nice, but I'd rather not pay to be in his company every time he graces my doorstep.

Food is in a bowl in front of me now, and to be honest after all the carry on trying to get it right; I find myself utterly repulsed by the very sight of it.

If I could give no stars for this place, I would. Needless to say I shall not be making any more purchases from this place, and shall be passing along precisely what I think of the place to the many people I got interested in the...

Ordered our food to take away the Scottish woman at the counter seemed to struggle with the 3 items I ordered. We got the food up the road and it turns out they had given us the wrong sauce. I took it back and highlighted the problem where they proceeded to take the sauce to replace it. I emphasised that if they were just replacing the sauce then I'd like a refund because it would be cold by the time I get it back up the road. At this point my request seemed absurd and I was the one made to feel at fault.

I returned home with the supposedly replaced correct order this time. It wasn't a replacement... it had very obviously been re-fried. Chips dry and too crispy and chicken tough and overcooked. Slight burnt taste.

I don't really want to go down there for a third time. I'll just cut my losses and...

Was good a couple of years back. Now pretty rank.

Their mains all taste the same. Their ribs are just lumps of fatty gristle, not actual ribs. When I called them about that they said, yeah sorry, that's what the chef does.

New management trying to get it sorted maybe, but half of what we ordered went in the bin.

Used to be good. Currently awful. Here's hoping they get it sorted.
