I'd give the car park full stars .... But the shopping centre seemed like it had passed its best.
There were a fair number of empty shop units, especially on the upper level. There were also toilets which were once accessible to customers but we're now reserved only got use by students at a specific college? I assume they study within the building?
Customer toilets were only available on the lower floor.
The escalators were out of use. They had been boxed over with wood I guess there is little need for them whilst many of the upper units are vacant? (Or not cost effective to fix whilst their is stair or lift access)
Lifts were working.
The stairwells were well lit.
The floor paint within stair wells seemed to have been re applied over old paint and it was flaking off badly.
Parking costs were reasonable for town center parking.
Most of the car park was very well lit. Some bits were a...
Read moreIf you are visiting one of the handful of shops left in the Westmorland shopping centre ( or the vaccination centre there) I would advise against a visit to the toilets which are the dirtiest unhygienic excuse for facilities I have seen in many a year. Obviously not been cleaned properly for a long long time. Management should be made to use them to see what they think. I would have taken pictures but obviously frowned upon to whip your camera out in a toilet!! Only saving grace was that the pay gates were open so were free to use, if I had to pay for the dubious privilege I would have been even angrier than I am!!...

Plenty of parking spaces and of the type you get a ticket on entry and then pay at a pay station before you get back to your car and then exit.
To note that this is not a huge shopping centre with all the flash modern shops and supermarkets etc. Far from it. There are a selection of quaint little shops alongside some of the usual ones. But overall it is really a glance-through on your way into the main Kendal high street. Our recent visit I’m pretty sure the upper floor was shut. Probably for continuing works but can’t be sure.
Overall I only use the car park here as it is reasonable and at...
