Unfortunately this 1 star rating is based on a completely unacceptable experience with a delay if over 50 minutes as they had forgotten our order. Normally this wouldn't be a massive issue but when we could see that the kitchen wasn't busy and two other people came in after us, got their food and left. I then asked the barman if he could find out what had happened to our order who did find out and said it wouldn't be long. Fair enough mistakes happen. However when the food came , a lamb kebab the lamb was incredibly tough and some couldn't be eaten. When it came to paying the bill I explained to the young girl, very politely that we weren't entirely happy with the orders delay and asked for the bill to be amended to reflect the inconvenience which I feel was entirely justified. Kez as she is called offered to reduce the bill by just over 2 pounds for the 2 coca cola's we had had which we weren't happy with considering the poor quality of the lamb and the delay. I asked to speak to the manager who kez then disappeared for five minutes then came back to tell me the manager had "gone home" at 9PM on a Saturday. I then asked to speak to whoever was in charge ie supervisor and was told again that no one was in charge! I was then told that if I was "upset" about the delay I should have chased it up which I explained had already done. Kez then was incredibly uninterested and spoke rudely and very unprofessional and my partner who is a school teacher and is incredibly patient and polite spoke up and said this isn't the way to speak to and treat customers who have had poor service. Kez was completely uninterested. We paid the bill and she just walked off, no thankyou or apology. I was so disappointed and disgusted at the way we were spoken to that I feel compelled leave this review. Such a shame for a pub which has such great history but completely indifferent staff who apparently are completely...
Read moreThis is a beautifully presented bar a restaurant, a perfect place for a quick local pint or a delicious meal. The staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful without being bothersome. The selection of ales is very good with pub favourites through to a good range of local beers. They have a very good and varied selection of pub appropriate food. The food is excellent, the presentation is definitely photo worthy and portion sizes are good for the price. They definitely try to create wonderful flavours in each dish without any one being overpowering. I had the vegetable Wellington and it was delectable. I would definitely recommend here for a meal in Kendal. They offer "small plates" for a lot of dishes for smaller appetites and even though I requested a small plate Wellington I was given a full size (and full price) one. Also the toilets are very nice and well maintained too, each with its own individual sink...
Read moreA little one year anniversary meal turned into a disaster when we recieved our food. Firstly we ordered Garlic bread with cheese and the bread was too hard and the cheese wasnt melted into the bread. Didnt taste nice at all. Then our mains came, I had hunters chicken, which was okay but again ruined by too much cheese that wasnt melted and burnt bacon. And the ribs that was something I wouldnt even give to my dog. Then to top it off we wernt offered a replacement meal, just told they would take it off the bill so one of us went starving all night. Luckily there is a mcdonalds down the road and I'd rather go there for a sit down meal than back to Masons Yard 24 again. We were stirred at by all waitresses and we were just made to feel uncomfortable. Not to mention I booked it over the phone in advance and still didnt take my name even though spelt it for them 5 times. Wouldnt...
