This used to be one of the greatest shopping centres in Knowsley, but visiting after 19 years I was shocked, it's so sad, the whole shopping parade is as dated and become unloved, with loads of derelict buildings in need of a facelift or injection of money/investment. The place it's so depressing around the old areas of the main town centre, even the old market is lifeless, unlike the old one it is full of cheap Β£1 bargain tat stalls (where's the variety gone I asked), answer from stall holders most moved on as rent is so high for prime market stalls, what's prime about it, it's a shambles. To me it's obvious, there is no investment being made at all from Knowsley council, nothing major as all been injected into Kirkby in years it's been left to crumble, 40 years without a major supermarket player, yet huyton town centre has several, now is that because that's we that main council buildings are (in Huyton & they don't see beyond their own windows and doors). Kirkby has been relegated to the lower ends of the investment chain and thus the town centre is in dire need of a facelift due to the obvious lack of investment. It's such a shame as this town centre used to have top brand shops like Boots, W H Smith's, Asda, Littlewoods, Co Op, etc in its hayday when I was young living there. I feel sorry for the local residents of Kirkby they're being let down by their own council who's priority is just Huyton, Huyton, Huyton and not the whole borough of Knowsley. As they say on a famous TV series "Shame, Shame, Shame, Shame,...

Β Β Β Read moreIt's common knowledge that "the Towny" has been in decline for years. More recently, however, the town centre has undergone a lot of beautification projects that have brought it up-to-date.
We do have a selection of shops here. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants, low budget womens clothing stores, betting offices and department and home shops like Home & Bargain and B&M.
We have a Costa, Wetherspoons, Gregg's, the Pound Cafe and a couple of chip shops. The most favoured chip shop would be the one by Kirkby Market.
The new market was part of the beautification and rejuvenation project. It's now a colourful labrynth of various clothing vendors, fresh food, furniture suppliers and more.
However, if you are in search of brand name clothing, any sort of men's clothing, mid range+ shops, I'd recommend going straight into Liverpool...
