I love Kirkby Gallery! It is a great space for lovers of art in many ways. The gallery displays lovely art work from people of all ages and abilities, and the staff are warm, friendly and approachable. I first came to the gallery to attend a series of art classes that were being put on there and I have been back lots of times now for more art classes. The art classes are great, with professional artists teaching a range of art methods such as drawing - broken down to make it easier to learn and to increase your confidence - clothed life drawing and still life, and the basics of painting in acrylics and oils. I travelled by the excellent train link from Liverpool to Kirkby, (there are also northern trains from Wigan and Manchester) and it is a short cycle ride or walk to Kirkby Town centre. On the first floor of the easily located Council buildings on the edge of the town centre by the roundabout. A great venue with exhibits that are well worth travelling for. The pop art pictures were fascinating and loved the Ian Curtis picture! The only thing missing is a decent cafe and note there was one that seems to have closed, but hopefully that will change in future. Highly recommended and demonstrates that the city region has artistic riches beyond the usual (and brilliant) galleries in Liverpool...
