THIS IS MY UPTO DATE REVIEW
REVIEW MAY 2023 See my old review 4 months ago where I gave China Jade a good telling-off for bad food - the old owners were amazing but since it changed hands to new owners - the quality had become bad.
Well, now it is May 2023, and I reluctantly decided to order another takeout. And I was shocked!!! SHOCKED IN A GOOD SENSE! The dishes I ordered were absolutely delicious.
I ordered special foo yung - a great number of different meats, still very succulent and not dried out at all. My only criticism - there wasn't enough egg. However, it was a lovely dish.
The second dish ordered was the Singapore Vermicelli Noodles. Again, absolutely flavoursome. And the meat again was succulent, juicy and lots of it.
Well done China Jade for turning things around. Please keep it up - remember, quality food is what brings your customers back. Please do not go back to using cheaper food or watering down sauces to make a saving because you will lose customers. I am really impressed and will try you again and again. But will also write on here if there are further complaints. I would now score your food 9/10. Just like the previous old owners of China Jade.
Well done China Jade. I will be back... Keep up the good quality.
OLD REVIEW 4 MONTHS AGO... The main meal was okay BUT the starters ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. So hence 3 stars.
The chicken balls - I was expecting those lovely round juices chicken balls like the fish ones you see in the Chinese supermarkets. But what I got was chicken nuggets. Even worse the batter was thick hard and horrible annd over salted. And the chicken dry.
The salt and pepper ribs were dry as Gandhiās flip flops. There was very little meat on them and angain over salted. And the chips very dry.
So DO NOT ORDER CHICKEN BALLS DO NOT ORDER RIBS and DO NOT ORDER CHIPS.
Main dish was average - young chow rice and chicken black bean sauce.
The old china jade was exceptional out of this world. The people who took over (I think they took over 3-5 years ago) are not as good. The new owners NEED to stop buying the cheaper version products from their Chinese wholesalers. And start buying the more quality versions available from their wholesalers. They also need to stop watering down the sauces.
I should have given them 2 stars not 3. But I was in a good mood today until I got my food!!! My day today was good and the food just ruined the end. I feel a bit sick now like Iāve eaten junk food.
This is the third time I have ordered with them and they have improved from the first time. But the second time they were just ok and this time below ok. So I think I have learnt my lesson and time to find another Chinese takeaway. Shame as this is so close to me and I used to love them.
I hope they read this as say āwe will definitely try and changeā rather than their usual āwe are sorry please come in and tell us your name and we will give you a refundā. A refund does not make up for the day they just ruined and how sick I now feel.
PS. I gave three stars because I do firmly believe they are nice people who do want to provide a nice good service rather than...
Read moreNot sure why it has so many good reviews. Came here for orange chicken and salt and pepper chips a while ago and it was honestly quite awful. The chicken/rice wasn't anything special and was forgettable. The salt and pepper chips were just a massive (portion too large) box of chips that didn't have enough onion or chilli on it. It's not acceptable to charge £4 for a big box of salty chips that dry your mouth out and not put enough onion in to balance the whole thing out!! It's not an enjoyable experience I shouldn't have to tell you this. And why don't you bother putting chilli on it? I got maybe 6 little tiny slices in it. Chilli, onion and potatos are all very cheap so don't make tell me that it's a cost reason. You just can't be bothered to put effort into giving your customers a good meal. I had to throw the chips away. Money doesn't grow on trees and I don't want to be ripped off for a box of £4 salty chips. This place doesn't deserve it's good reviews. Also there's a chair in the waiting area that I almost fell through because the bottom of it has collapsed and they're too lazy to care also about the customers safety, nevermind giving...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently went back to China Jade after not visiting for many years. Someone recommended it, and I remembered how good it used to be. Chinese takeaways can be hit or miss, but I was happy to find that we really enjoyed our meal this time. The flavors were nice, and it didnāt taste too salty or fake like some places do.
There are a couple of things that bothered me, though. First, itās hard to believe they donāt take card payments in 2024. I had to go find an ATM to get cash, which is a hassle since most people donāt carry cash anymore.
Also, I noticed that they can have four meals ready in just 10 minutes. While that sounds great, I wonder how fresh the food can really be when itās made so quickly. This seems to happen often with Chinese takeaways.
Overall, despite these small issues, Iām glad I returned to China Jade. The food was tasty enough that Iāll definitely order from...
