Terminus Tap Room and Bottle Shop — Restaurant in Leeds

I really like the look of Terminus and they"ve done a great job of their outdoor space. But too many gripes also.

1. I politely took a beer back because it was cloudy (and tasteless) and the staff tried to convince me it was their sessional IPA, despite not initially knowing which one it was. Despite them apologising they insisted that's how it comes and charged me for another. Normally I wouldn't mind (too much) but I have twice been served bad beer here before. First time they agreed (it was obvious) and they changed it and second time I was unfortunately already quite drunk and it didn't really register til I'd drunk half of it.
2. They had a range of pale ales but, other than a very very sweet stout, nothing else on cask. A bit weird.
3. It was a quiet Sunday night and our party was the last off the main outdoor area. We weren't slow in leaving, but before we'd even got to the steps they'd turned the outdoor lights out. They realised the mistake and turned them back on. But really...it's just basic courtesy. Staff seemed to be doing a job, but without customer care. They also couldn't ever remember who had ordered what drink. One friend ordered a single coffee from the waiter and when returned with it he had no idea who it was for so just placed it on the end of the table nearest him.inattentive staff.

Get the beer and service right and this place will hit...

This place has the potential to be the best bar in Meanwood, the interior is the usual mix of vintage, modern but done with a particularly nice eye. It would be nice if there was clear glass in the upstairs windows (hopefully this is on the 'to do' list) but as I visited in the evening this wasn't really an issue. Unfortunatley the beer I had was not very good. I chose the IPA, but it had none of the characteristics I would expect and did not taste great, and although it was drinkable, I didn't finish it!! I didn't try anything else so I can't comment but they do have a vast range of beers to try so I'm sure next time I will find something I like.

We define it as "the pinnacle of all hope and desires, the one beacon of good taste and decorum, all in one cosy little spot in the heart of Meanwood village!" Oxford English Dictionary defines Village as "a group of houses and associated buildings, larger than a hamlet and smaller than a town, situated in a rural area." But find yourself at Terminus and you'll ponder whether what makes the village really is the buildings, or actually, the rag-tag group of individuals who, despite all the odds, find love and community in the harsh world of 21st-century Britain.
