Portside Fish & Chips (Moortown) — Local services in Leeds

As the owner of the business, I try my hardest to make the products we sell to the highest standard. By selling these products I hope and feel that the people buying and consuming them have an enjoyable experience in doing so. My 60 hour week is filled by cutting the high grade quality haddock in to fillets that I feel are of reasonable size, the potatoes we buy in are a high quality produce from North Yorkshire. Since we remove the peel and remove the nasty bits from the natural products by hand and then chip them ourselves, it concerns me to hear negative reviews from the odd one or two people that seem disgruntled with their experience.

Pleasing everyone is impossible, however since my business has been here in the same family for the last 17 years almost to the day, we must be doing something right. I feel that I am a very reasonable person and it really upsets me to find out people have had their bad experience and instead of coming to speak to me and resolving their issues they take to social media immediately.

There are many places around that claim to be fish and chip shops but, fail miserably.

However, If you like your Fish and Chips, I highly recommend this place! ... A propper chippy

My usual place was closed so I decided to Google chippies nearby. There were a couple of suggestions but, this place stood out with 5 star raving reviews, so I decided to give it a try.

As soon as I entered I was greeted by friendly faces.

I ordered fish and chips (slightly more expensive then my usual place). The fish was freshly fried so I had to wait a short while.

Once I received my order and tucked in, The chips were spot-on, fresh and tasty... Well cooked. The fish...wow! It couldn't have been made any better. Both the batter and the fish were perfect. The fish was the best I've had for a long time. . Will...

The customer service and attitude of staff at Portside is top notch. They are polite, efficient, engaged, and happy in their work. They make eye contact as soon as you enter and serve you quickly.

The owner must be a good leader and is setting a good example. He also seems very enthusiastic.

The chips are perfect!

The only area where I think they could improve is on the fish. The batter is heavy, and there is too much. The fish also is not soft and flaky....how i like it. I'm a massive fan of fish and chips so hope they can improve that...make it fresher.

But I can't fault the service. So many small businesses could learn from this...keep up...
