The first time come to UK in liverpool, I saved my money to study here, but I have run into too many problems since last Saturday.. Firstly, i want to complain about the Kitchen, we are 5 people in the apartment, there are only 2 frying pans and one of these has a broken pot handle?? excuse me ? Then there is not even dishes drying rack?? you just drying your wet dishes and crockery on the kitchen worktopļ¼ In the room, there is NO trush bin ? hot water and cold water are separatedļ¼ toilet flush does not empty properly wc bowl? 225Ā£ per week and you got these, beautiful.
The residence is expensive, I spend like 225Ā£ per week, and my room layout is not as same as they show me in the photo, I FEEL GOT CHEATED !
If you want to stay for a short time like 1 month, this place would be OK. However, I do not recommend this kind room for long term student, ABSOLUTELY no. Please do cheated by these photos, make sure that they give you the photo about your room before coming here.
I hope they will give me a solution tomorrow, and I gonna write more details about how things develop. ā
This morning IQ ACCOMODATION solved issues on broken air extractor. Regarding to crockery items in the kitchen, I have just discovered that KAPLAN is the one who has provided those things. This make me spechless, because YOU READER OF THIS REVIEW HAVE TO KNOW that we pay a higher price to kaplan for booking our accomodation, but KAPLAN does not even want to give you a good condition frying pan ? I do not mean a NEW PAN, but at least IT SHOULD NOT BE BROKEN?
About the ground floor window problem (I do not want people walking in the courtyard to see my bedroom while I have my the roller shutter opened), the reception staff told me that they will ask someone to put a reflective PVC film, in this way outside people can not see my room.
The I can confirm to you guys, if I should say what is the most positive ascpect of the IQ ACC. Great Newton House wthout doubt it is their STAFF. ā
After speaking with KAPLAN Principal about my accomodation issuesļ¼in the evening of 06th March, the IQ Great Newton House's staff showed me other students room which are still not booked. But they said that there would be another room which could be available from this saturday.
regarding the broken pan in the kitchen, KAPLAN Principal told me that this week they will be checking other flats if there are any worn out kitchen crockeries that need to be changed, after that they will talk to the accounting office about the quantity to order.
Since the beginning I would not like ground floor rooms, for this reason I would like to wait untill 09th March and have a look of the last mentioned room on the 1st floor. Then I can reaffirm that all the staff are very kind and try to do the best to solve the student's problems. āā
About the frying pans Kaplan gave us a completely new set of pans, we really appreciate their customer service (see photo N.5).
In summary, I'm now satisfied with my accommodation in the student apartment, thanks to both the staff at Kaplan and the team at my accommodation, IQ Great Newton House. Once again the staff here are very very nice. Thank you! āāāā
I donāt actually know where to start with this place because since the first day I went thereās been one problem or another. On the first day I walked into my room with hairs all over the floor and a dirty desk. The bathroom was absolutely DISGUSTING the toilet, sink and bathroom hadnāt been cleaned from the previous resident that stayed here! Despite me calling 2 weeks prior to me moving in, asking whether my room was ready for me. Iām not an anomaly; many other residents here reported the same issue to me. Same problem was with the kitchen, it just was not clean AT ALL upon arrival and the fridge had some weird sticky substance on it which me and my flatmates had to deal with ourselves. Draws and cabinets were unclean. Since the week I had moved ( September) Iāve been dealing with a very loud obnoxious upstairs neighbour. Who makes noise until the early hours of the morning (4:00am) almost everyday. This isnāt IQās fault however it was dealt with VERY poorly. Other accoms have a fining or three strike system but they have no strategy with dealing with such things and so i was left to deal with this from September through to May. Management were made aware since September. Yet no actual solution has been brought about. I was told to call security which I did all of the first semester, which might I add solved nothing! This really affected my mental health as i was very tired in the day and couldnāt sleep at night so i was falling behind. Again management were made aware and did nothing. The outside of the building 7/10 times has rubbish littered around it. I could continue but Iām sure you get the picture Iām trying to paint. There are much better accommodations in Liverpool so I advise you check some of these out before you consider wasting your money here: True students, unite students, urban sleeps,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy son lived here and I would recommend living here, overall the facilities are clean an accommodating. I thought the layout of the building and furniture was nice an I thought the rooms a kitchen where a good size for the price. With so much storage !You canāt hear any traffic pollution, located only a 10 minute walk at most into the city centre and the train stations, but the street itself is a bit hidden away so itās nice an quiet. Also key location being around a 5/10 minute walk away from the universityās. Alongside, a b&m and aldi across the road from here -so an ideal location really! They also did painting competitions and movie nights with freebies which he really enjoyed.
Itās only downfalls is the lack of sound proof insulation between the bedrooms but nothing a tv playing couldnt fix! Also I think that maybe the gender and ages should be considered a bit more when arranging flats. Especially my son being first year, he was the only one who was so it was a bit harder for him to relate to his flat. Aside from this I would definitely recommend if you want a great value place for your money and want to be a short distance from...
