Date of visit 18th October 2025
After trying the Stanley Park Market a month previously, we thought we would try the one on Homer Street; I have not been here before, but other family members travelling with me have, but not for years. There is a plethora of items to buy; like clothing, celebratory cards, foodstuffs like chocolate, bedding, a range of meats and even some Christmas supplies. You could spend an hour or two here max if you look around at a slow pace and take in all the stalls and what they were selling. We spent around 50-55 minutes here on the day. When we arrived until we left, it was extremely busy. We were lucky to move at all at some points when we were there. Compared to Stanley Park - there was more room to move around as well as it not being as busy. Nonetheless, the local atmosphere makes up for it, everyone is super friendly and some stallholders do end up having a chat with you. Probably wouldnât rush back here and out of the two markets, I prefer the former, but still worth a visit if youâre looking for great deals and donât mind busier environments.
Tips and Recommendations
Excellent market both indoors and outdoors. Plenty of bargains on clothing, bedding, footwear, jewellery, household goods and toiletries; furniture and fittings; lampshades and lamps. Stalls selling ornaments for both indoors and outdoors; others selling plants or pottery, foods and vegetables; others selling toys, tools, games, or books; there is something for everyone. The indoor stalls are obviously out of the weather but even the outdoor stalls are mostly undercover so the weather shouldn't put you off. There are toilets inside and a place to sit, eat and drink although the area is relatively small you may have a long wait getting a table or even a seat at peak times. As always parking can be difficult in the neighborhood as most roads are double yellow or residential; however there are close by some large shopping outlets that have plenty of parking space for short stays so a short walk to the market is all you need. Also, there are major Bus routes along the main road in and out of Liverpool that pass by the market so local transport is an alternative option should you wish to visit the market. The market is very popular and so it can get very crowded when open for business with the aisles between the stalls getting quite tight at times but hay it's all part and parcel of a thriving community with shoppers and bargain...
Read moreWe visited the market when my daughter visited from London. Always lots to see and potentially buy in Greatie Market. We bumped into a lovely market trader (black lady) Leticia who was selling shea butter organic face and body products in the indoor market area. She was so lovely helpful, and we supported her business by purchasing a few things. A negative side was an Indian man trader told my daughter she wouldn't be able to afford his items! Rude as hell, and if that's how he speaks to potential customers, he can keep his products. Many stall holders were not that friendly toward us when we walked up to their stall.. in fact some complelty ignored us. I'm not sure if it's a cultural / diverse issue, but I don't think I'll be going back there again. Shame really, especially as I've lived in Liverpool for the...
