Chicken 5* Standard Gravy 5* Fries/chips 2* The fries were limp and a bit rubbery, for want of a better word. The staff, service, and atmosphere were amazing, second to none. UPDATE ON FOLLOWING VISIT. Despite the food venues being open, we could not get any food! We went to the vendor, and they said we had to order from the table, with the QR code, or from the bar. We had already been to the bar and couldn't get served or get either of the bar staff attention they were deep in conversation with people at the far end of the bar and laughing, no other customers were waiting. We went to a table and entered the QR code, which told us to order at the vendor because one of our party had a cheese allergy, also the table number had faded and we had to gat a member of staff to find out what number it was. All this messing about caused me distress as I am diabetic and was being passed from pillar to post whilst also using a wheeled walker. The staff on the Comedy Club door were loverly and very helpful, particularly the lady with short blonde hair. She went above and beyond (sorry if the pronouns I use are incorrect or offensive, but I don't have a name). The bouncers were professional and maintained a reassuring presence without being overbearing. The floor staff were hardworking but still very approachable, helpful, and very friendly, whilst maintaining professionalism. The vendors were lovely, but the ordering system let's them down and reduces face to face communication which is OK if you like that but sometimes that is required, especially when someone is allergic to something. The actual show was really good, but the extra walking and lack of food made me really tired and uncomfortable. I had resigned myself to eating after the show, but all the vendors were closed after the show. I approached the bar at the end of the night and tried to explain my difficulties but when the manager/supervisor was asked for it turns out she was one of the staff that was chatting and laughing at the end of the bar earlier that evening and wasn't very open/approachable. So I gave up and...
Read moreAfter a less-than-ideal experience at the previous venue, we were invited to visit the new location, and I must say, we were thoroughly impressed. The venue is stunning—far beyond what the online photos suggest. Spread across two floors, it features multiple bars, food vendors, and charming, quirky decor.
The new theaters are a significant improvement: they’re cleaner, more comfortable, and have a much more pleasant atmosphere. However, the seating is a bit compact, so be prepared for a cozy experience.
The staff, without exception, were polite, welcoming, and helpful, which made for a much more enjoyable visit compared to our last one.
We arrived early to try the food, opting for Patterson. With such a wide variety of options, it was hard to choose! Ordering was easy via QR codes on the tables, and we found the prices reasonable for both food and drinks. Pints are priced around £5.50, and cocktails are approximately £10—what you would expect for a venue of this caliber.
As for parking, street parking is available for free right outside the venue. We attended an early show and arrived around 5:30 pm, but for later shows, parking might be more challenging.
The Paul Smith show itself was fantastic, and we also enjoyed the entertainment in the food court. If we lived closer, we would definitely visit more often.
For future visits, I recommend booking an early show, as parking and seating in the bar and food areas become very limited later in the evening. When our show ended at 8:15 pm, the venue was extremely busy.
Overall, I look forward to returning. The free shows every Sunday are particularly appealing, and I’d love to spend more time enjoying the live music in the food court.
Thank you to Paul for giving us the opportunity to return and being able to experience the Hot Water Comedy Club for what it is....
Read moreVisited on a Friday evening and the venue was heaving. Managed to find a table though! There was very little space to actually sit in the venue because the tables are crammed in, leaving little room to sit and uncomfortably close to other people around. Ordering was done via scanning a QR code and placing an order on the app. There is no indication of wait times or availability on there, which seems to have caused an issue. The comedy club is new in here and seems to have incredibly long queues which make it difficult and potentially dangerous to get around the venue. There is a queue through every walkway in the venue and makes it impossible to move around. This means that drinks and food takes a really long time to arrive and the quality is deteriorated because of this. We ordered drinks to take in to the comedy club, which we placed 40 minutes before the show was due to start. Our drinks had not arrived 30 minutes before the show so we asked some staff. We were treated rudely by staff who insisted it was not their problem and that we had to wait. Eventually we managed to speak to a manager who resolved our issues. The staff themselves were very blunt and rude, and made us feel very awkward. We spent a long time to speak to a manager and when we finally got to the bar, it turned out some of our drinks were actually unavailable. I do not know what would have happened when they finally got to making our drinks. It also seems that a large number of the drinks being taken to tables were people who were attending the comedy, and hence had left their tables so their drinks were refused. The fiasco really took away from our enjoyment of the...
