This review is for the way the salon’s management (Older Asian lady with black-framed glasses) handled client concerns. I booked in my appointment through Treatwell to get a Ladies haircut at Jeju Hair Salon, London and was informed that the price is Ā£55. Upon sitting down, I was told that my hair required another Ā£10 charge as it was very long. To be honest, it wasn’t a huge issue but I just wished that I was informed about this earlier, so I sternly but respectfully let my stylist, Bella, know that this isn’t alright because clients may feel ambushed by hidden costs, however small the amount. She was kind enough to understand my frustration and offered to waive the extra charge this time. She informed her manager (older Asian lady) about it and the lady came to me huffing, seemingly want to talk to me about this as she shoved her phone screen in my face and said ā€œSee? We do say it on Treatwellā€. I saw a fineprint under ā€˜show details’ of only their Treatwell booking platform. The fineprint does not contain any price specifications for the extra charge or how they define ā€˜long hair’. Their booking options/price list also do not differenciate prices for different hair lengths. Finally, I also noticed that such costs were not mentioned on their website’s price list (at the time of my haircut, July 2024). So at this point, looking at all the facts, I did not believe myself to be unreasonable as I truly was not well-informed about this at all, especially as this has never been communicated with me last time either. However, to avoid any further troubles as I really was in a rush and didn’t have it in me to escalate this very trivial problem, I kindly said, ā€œdon’t worry, just add the extra costā€. Bella was again kind enough to find a compromise to charge me Ā£5 for it, which I agreed to. Now that I’ve kindly paid and ready to leave the situation as it is, the lady was still keen to explain to me how I was wrong and that the salon has made an effort to inform clients thorugh the fineprint. Her poor, nasty attitude, coupled with her stubborn demeour, unraveled into a conflict. She proceeded to express to me in these exact words, ā€œJust because clients don’t know about the cost, doesn’t mean that they don’t have to payā€. To me, this was an unreasonable explanation because by this theory, the business can just charge their clients whatever amount without appropriately informing them and get away with it. Thus, all I am trying to convey here is that, please ensure your clients are well-informed of any extra costs and provide specified information on it, before they’ve made the decision to make the trek to your establishment for your services. It is only fair to your clients (and stylists too) to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings. Please understand that your clients have chosen to come/return to your establishment for your services out of all of your other competitors because they thought that they’d be able to leave feeling happy and satisfied, but that hard-earned customer loyalty can easily change with a single bad experience. It doesn’t hurt to recipocate kindness, patience and reason with your amicable clients who are also treating you with reason and kindness. Although I was admittedly acting agitated during our argument, I need the lady to know that I was simply reflecting her energy back to her. Her attitude and the way she handled this issue has turned a wonderful and relaxing day and experience for me into a sour and bitter one, and it has further continued to ruin my entire day. I left without an apology from the lady, but still I said ā€œhave a nice dayā€ because I felt it was the polite thing to do, especially as it was not my intention to escalate things. It is not my intention for my review of Jeju Hair to be taken poorly - I am not fishing for an apology from the lady, nor am I trying to deter anyone from coming here, but I do hope that the salon can take my experience as a customer into account and can find it in themselves to admit their faults and improve the way they run things.

The salons itself and the lady who did my hair were lovely initially. However, I got a spiral perm done here, which looked great when it was first taken out, but by the time I got home only the bottom half of my hair was still curly; with some strands at the front and right at the back still straight. I went back 2 week later, and was brushed off with excuses that it was my hair’s fault and that it was because it was my first perm etc. This was never advised to me before the treatment and my money being taken from me though? But the salon was busy, and I’m not great at complaining, so just left to go work. I have recently spoken to another hair dresser who suggests that in fact either the 1st solution wasn’t rinsed out fully, or the 2nd one wasn’t applied properly; and my hair should still be fully curly with only a few inches of growth. Instead I’ve spent the last 3 months with bad hair, that looks like it’s been done over a year ago. And for the price I paid I expected to have fully curly hair, not the half half mess I have now. You wouldn’t go in for an expensive colour treatment and expect it to be faded out by the time you get home. I followed all the instructions and didn’t touch my hair for 3 days after the perm, in hopes it would be curly after the first wash. I style my hair with products and a defuser on a cold heat setting, and still it’s never been fully curly. And as you can see in the images the parts of my hair are still the exact same curl, so my hair did take- where it was done properly. Went back again to the salon after speaking to the other hairdresser, and was trying to resolve it nicely, but got met with aggression and the hair dresser would not admit that it could of not been done correctly, and at no point has ever tried to work with my disappointment. Not impressed at all. I’m sure they are fined for normal hair cuts (even though I asked for loads of layers so my hair didn’t look like a triangle when she was cutting it, and she didn’t do that right either) and colouring. But would not advise to get a spiral perm here.

I did the Japanese Permanent Hair Straightening almost a year ago and my hair still looks great! I am a very very big fan of completely straight hair so my overuse of hair straightener often left me with dry and split ends. After getting the treatment done not only was my hair straight but also extremely soft! I paid around Ā£250 for the whole process but I’m pretty sure there was some discount involved and I also got a haircut alongside olaplex no 1&2. Would recommend it to anyone whose obsessed with straightening, however please first contact the hair salon regarding your hair type and texture so that you can expect the possible outcome. I am so so delighted with my hair that I’m planning to do this every year! My hair wasn’t damaged at all!

So I had my appointment booked for 12pm today. It was my first time visiting Jeju hair recommended by my friend. I thought okay let’s give it a go, have asked my friend to join me and see if she wants a haircut in the future..

So upon arrival - spoke to lovely gentleman the husband of the stylist I’ve booked under. He was doing the admin work and asked us for tea and coffee.

Now it was my turn for a hair cut with Eunju ( the stylist I’m also presuming the boss lady) sat me down and asked what kind of hair cut I’m after. I replied do you have any suggestions / recommendations?. Her reply was it’s my first time meeting you how am I suppose to know ??? . I sat there for two seconds and thought to myself what’s with the poor customer service and abrupt response ? I ignored her comment and said well I’ve got a few pictures, my friend found one for me she asked if I said I want an inch taking off and wanted little bit shorter with the same kind of style..she then washed my hair etc etc and said with that hair style because the model got loads of layers she needs to blow dry it to create the volume.

I thought its high maintenance to maintain that look. So I decided to go on my instagram, found an old pic of me with short hair and asked her to replicate the look ( this was already my back up! ) but front parting create a long layered fringe to frame my face etc

She then went ballistic and said she refused to cut my hair because I am asking too much ? I mean cutting it short with no layers but only layer the front parting to frame my face is asking too much?

She then said I don’t think you’re ready for a haircut , you don’t know what you want come back another day . I said been waiting for this hair for the past week and now you’re refusing to cut my hair because you don’t want to take the responsibility. At that point, I know my tone did sounded harsh , but she was being so unreasonable and angry for no reason!! She said I kept on saying ā€œthat’s fine go ahead that’s fineā€ and to her it sounded like I was being indecisive and unsure. When I said that’s fine I meant wanted her to go ahead and start cutting as I feel confident with her abilities. She then continued to blow dry my hair, I saw her look through the mirror rolling her eyes and said ā€œOh Godā€ sorry honey but that was so disrespectful. When she finished blow drying my hair she made another comment and said ā€œI’m only a hair dresser but you don’t have to be so rude to meā€. My face impression dropped completely I was in shock I sat there quietly when she was blowing drying my hair and then she had to make that comment. My friend at that point had to step in and said to her politely my friend is not being rude, that’s her personality and that’s how she speaks/talks.

Eunju then must have turned away a little and said I don’t like you being rude in front of my family and towards my family !! I was even more confused at this point! How am I being rude in front of your family ? I had to apologised for my ā€œattitudeā€ she then said oh it’s not your attitude it’s just me. Okay so why did you create a dramatic scene for no reason ? Just because I said I wanted a simple haircut. I said my friend recommended me to come here and I even brought a friend to come along.I’m here because I trust you cutting my hair.

I have never ever experience such poor customer service in a hairdresser salon. The husband looked calm, I didn’t raise my tone but it sounded like she was extremely stressed. What confuses me even more is that it was only me, my friend, her, her husband and kid all in one room?

I then offered to pay her for washing my hair and blow drying she refused to take my money and said ā€œno I don’t want your moneyā€. She was horrible.

This is my first time making a bad / longest review too. Please read guys I’ve been so unhappy since and this was just...

I had a digital perm in late November 2021 and the perm lasted pretty well for a month. I noticed that my hair started getting straighter almost immediately in January 2022. I was quite disappointed that it only lasted well for a month because it was not a cheap perm at all — priced at Ā£210! I’ve had digital perms 3 times before this and they’ve always lasted a year for me (I am East Asian with hair that’s never been dyed before so I would say my hair is pretty healthy for the most part).

I did contact Jeju Hair on their WhatsApp. I sent them a photo of my hair, and they asked me to come in to their shop again so that the stylist can have a look at my hair and ā€œthey can take it from thereā€. Scheduling another visit took another month because of work on my end and their work schedules on their end too.

After much back and forth communication, Jeju Hair asked whether they could call me before I visited their shop. During the call, Jeju Hair told me that they could only give me a 30% discount if I were to do another digital perm with them. I was quite taken aback at first, as I was under the impression that they would not charge me for the second digital perm to rectify the problems that I had with the first. I did not want to pay another Ā£147 for a digital perm that I wasn’t sure that was going to work. And I definitely didn’t want to pay Ā£347 for 2 digital perms that I wasn’t sure that were going to work.

I give a 1/5 for Jeju Hair’s digital perm service since it did last for ONE month. I give a 3/5 for the communications that I had with them since it was mostly ā€˜cordial’ but there was a point in the call where the person on the phone was just giving various excuses of why the digital perm did not work (the frequency of washing my hair, whether I’ve dyed my hair, do I take care of my hair??) Like I get it, but I’ve done the same perm 3 times before, I would say I know how to take care of digitally permed hair pretty well. The stylist that did my hair was really nice, it’s just a shame that the perm did not last ā˜¹ļø

So if you have the same hair type as me (typical straight East Asian hair that’s not been dyed or whatever), I would recommend trying out other salons (My Snug Room/Jubilee Hair/Hana Salon etc.) in London that do digital perms. There are actually quite a number of them that do it and almost all of them are priced at ~Ā£200 (even in central London so it might be even easier making a...
