My friends and I attended the Vegan Course at KitchenJoy early this week. Joyâs knowledge of nutrition on why follow a plant-based diet and all the foods she cooked was very in-depth. As a taster we had Cauliflower Buffalo Wings which were delicious and considering there were x12 of us in the party and a huge dish, none were left! These were even an added bonus as they were not on the agenda.
We all participated in a hands on vegan chilli, which had so many different spices, was delicious and of course quinoa which is ideal for vegans. Not forgetting the smoothie we made to begin with and viewing Joyâs store cupboard of numerous other options to potentially add to smoothie making was very informative.
Whilst we sat around the table continually chatting about nutritional key factors, the chocolate brownies were in the oven, which we prepared earlier and were also yummy!
The course was for 2.5 hours, but time went quickly and Joy was very organised on the timings and dishes being delivered and was the perfect host. The course was only ÂŁ60 which we all thought was very good value for money, considering the prep that must of gone into the course and 3 courses to sample.
We are booking up anti-inflammatory course next, to sample more delights...
Read moreÂŁ60 for some cauliflower basted in shop bought sauce, watery smoothy, tasteless and unseasoned âchilliâ and a reasonably soggy brownie.
This gives Vegan food a bad name. Joy is inexperienced in this area and needs to improve on her offering.
Have contacted Joy on 3 occasions post course and she has yet to response to my refund request. Called Joy and she was very cross when I discussed my concerns over the quality and value of the course. Joy accused our group of âsabotaging her businessâ and being âvery difficultâ.
We went to learn to prepare vegan food, but instead got to chop an onion and garlic.
Joy does not like honest feed back and following a negative review, 5* reviews suddenly appear!
Joy said she would consider a refund if I were to remove my review.
The experience was not worth ÂŁ10 let alone ÂŁ60. Food so basic and tasteless.
Felt very short changed and shocked that we were refused a glass of wine or any decent food at this price.
How can Joy get away with these prices with this...
Read moreOverall a nice evening with Joy. I attended the Gluten Free cooking course. I wouldnât call it a cooking course as I chopped a few things and made a smoothie. Joy did the cooking so I wouldnât consider it an interactive experience. I have coeliac disease, and honestly I wouldnât recommend this course for anyone with this diagnosis. Joy discussed theories of ´leaky gutâ which is widely disproven and asked on one occasion if I just sometimes have bread. It was a nice evening and may be good for someone who doesnât have coeliac, but for someone with a diagnosis I wouldnât recommend. Joy may keep her gluten free equipment separate but this wasnât clear and I doubt this was the case even though I asked in advance. Not in my opinion value for money and not an evidence...
