Update to response: why would our table be cancelled when we called to confirm and paid a £50 deposit? Even if we had not you had 3 bookings in your whole restaurant. If you are unable to serve fresh food from your a la carte menu i suggest you dont offer it. Lastly, regardless of the mix up with the cake your staff should not be blowing on the food of customers. It is simply unhygienic.
We had a party of 12 people visit this restaurant recently, lovely decor and a warm welcome when we entered, the singer/DJ are very good and engage with the crowd however unfortunately the service and food are not great, we were being managed by a lady who appeared to be slightly senior as she was wearing all black? We sat down and within 5mins she came and asked for our mains order, a number of us had asked her for a few minutes but it seemed to be falling on deaf ears and we felt very rushed as she kept coming back every few seconds to ask if we are ready, despite us pre ordering the starters which could have been bought out in the meantime but hadnt. The food arrived and unfortunately the meat was very tough and over cooked, the fries soggy and very oily, the rice however..beautifully cooked. A number of our party smoke so after food decided to to outside, the lady bought the birthday cake we had bought out and started lighting the candles without even checking who’s birthday it was or if we were ready for the cake, we politely asked her to wait to which she then blew the candles out on the cake herself, very unhygienic. A few minutes later the DJ starts then calling out for the birthday person despite most of our parties still not being at the table and they’re being another party on the dancefloor still dancing with their cake and taking pictures, at this point the lady gets the cake again relight the candles goes up to the birthday person and says happy birthday, despite her being asked to wait until we tell her, we then told her again half of our party is not here and we need to wait , She then blew the candles out on the cake again and left the cake right behind the birthday person in our party completely ruining the surprise and everyone’s mood. I must add that she also done the same thing to another party behind us. Very unprofessional. Most of our party were very confused considering there was only three tables occupied so really were not sure what the rush was. We then received the bill and told the waiter a number of times we were splitting the bill again that kept falling on deaf ears and he ended up charging one member of our party for most of the bill. Really disappointing experience considering we were really looking forward to visiting this place, we just hope in future the staff may be able to listen a little bit more not make the customers feel rushed and like they are an...
Read moreI recently celebrated my 50th birthday at Rendezvous Restaurant in Chiswick, London, and I feel compelled to share my experience. Celebrating such a milestone in life should be memorable and joyous, but unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations.
I organized the event for over 40 guests nearly a month in advance. While the initial presentation and pre-event coordination seemed promising, the execution left much to be desired. We opted for the Set-Menu, which included starters, main courses, and desserts, alongside our own birthday cake.
Here's my feedback on several key aspects:
Food Quality: While the starter was eventually served after a notable delay, it was satisfactory, and the bread was delightful. However, the main course, particularly the Mixed Grill, was disappointing. The koobideh skewer, in particular, was unexpectedly sweet and contained unfamiliar green ingredients, deviating from traditional Iranian kabab koobideh, much to the dissatisfaction of many guests. The rice was commendable, though.
Dessert and Service: Dessert service was lacking, with tea sporadically served without cups or glasses, and a haphazard approach to providing baklava, despite being charged for 41 guests. Service for our birthday cake was disorganized, lacking essential utensils, resulting in a messy cake-cutting ordeal facilitated by one of our guests. Throughout the event, there were persistent attempts by the head waitress to upsell additional items, which felt inappropriate given the substantial amount paid for the event.
Atmosphere and Service: The ambiance was marred by overcrowded tables cluttered with excessive glassware, leaving little room for plates. The service staff seemed overwhelmed, likely due to staffing shortages, resulting in a noticeable lack of professionalism and occasional attitude problems.
In summary, the service received did not justify the significant expense incurred, leaving me deeply disappointed with my milestone celebration experience. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Rendezvous Restaurant as a venue for special events, as evidenced by the dissatisfaction expressed by other patrons during my event. It's not a matter of cost but rather the failure to deliver on promised services. Celebrating turning 50 should be a cherished memory, but unfortunately, this experience fell short of creating lasting joy and...
