Villa di Geggiano is, how to say… a very special place.
The food first as we are here for that. It is good, even very good. The Italian taste and touch is there so no doubt it is the real Italian cuisine that you‘ll find here. But not only; everything have got its special twist: the bresaola is of fassona, a special breed of the piedmontese cattle (one of the best), you won’t find mozzarella but burrata, the ‘ragu’ for the pappardelle is not of beef but Tuscan wild boar, and so on.
The wine card is very rich: from the (already very good) Primitivo (Puglia) or Bardolino (Veneto) up to the famous Sassicaia - you will find exactly what you want (sorry no word on the white wine as I am a red drinker). Interestingly, Villa di Geggiano is a Tuscan vineyard and of course they are proposing their own production – so the ‘house wine’ is literally from the house but not really the cheap low range sort of wine.
Now the place – you’ll love it or you’ll hate it but I don’t think you’ll be indifferent. It is on the upscale side. It is a mix of modern art (that you can buy!) and traditional decoration but very flamboyant and theatrical even to the excess like Baroque or even Rococo with some personal accessories such as family photos or books about Italy. It starts right at the front door where the bunches of plastic flowers, faded by the sun give this sensation of decadence and lost splendour.
The lounge, where you can enjoy a cocktail while waiting for your table, is more like the owner’s family living room or even possibly a boudoir.
The staff is very kind, helpful and attentive. Maybe too much – there is always this kind of mix between politeness and obsequiousness that could be somehow uncomfortable. By all means they are all very knowledgeable and will help you go through the menu.
So in simple terms: I would not go there every day but for a special occasion and for the very special experience,...

In addition to being grateful for the amazing experience, decor, ambience, food, drink and spaces we were shown, we have to give a big Grazie Mille to Angelica; Customer Relations Co-ordinator who made the night perfect and showed us around the Villa and knew every little detail about the place. Also to Mattia; the cool Bar Manager who you’ll see shaking up a few cocktails with a friendly and welcoming smile 🤗 We highly recommend a visit so you can see how incredible it is for yourselves. 💚🤍❤️...
Read moreMy oh my! This restaurant is THE BEST restaurant I’ve been to in this city. To the Italian readers out there reading this, I’ve always been told that I have “il palato sopraffino” so this post is based on this premise. That’s why I refused to go to any restaurant because I know how BAD the food is in this city, in this country! Every time my husband would tell me to go out, I would refuse because there’s no point in spending the money on food that I don’t like. One day, for our civil ceremony, I made such in depth research because I wanted to find THE PLACE. The place that would take me back to my country, Italy. To its flavours, to its architecture, to its cuisine, to its art, to its passion, to its camerieri, to its wine, pasta, to its FOOD! I’ve booked this restaurant and it did not fail my expectations. From the entrance a cameriere would attend you and guide you to the table. This restaurant has live cooking, so from our table we could see inside the kitchen, how I’ve missed this! We’ve ordered fabulous octopus carpaccio (God, that lemon zest on top of it it was from another planet!), delicious pasta con le vongole and amazing steak and supper di pesche e amaretti. At the end they surprised us with a small “congratulations” sweet, served on a personalised plate. At the exit from the restaurant, someone expected for us and asked for our feedback. She was so nice and sweet and the simple gesture of asking “how was it” made us feel so good! With our bellies full (at that time), and with having all fresh memories in my mind I can assure you that abbiamo mangiato da Dio and you will enjoy it as much as we did.
p.s at the end, I could find some sand in my mouth, from the vongole, although they were cleaned,...
