M&S Foodhall — Local services in London

Let’s start off with the pros: This M&S is local to me. It always seems stocked. Two lovely elderly gentleman one Asian one white always helpful and great customer service.

Now for the cons: the rest of the staff are not friendly. Had a incident in the shop where I wanted to buy brown chocolate chip cookies. There was none out.

Kindly asked the baker if he had any in the baking tray (which I could clearly see there was). He then carried on playing on his phone No eye contact and told me no There wasn’t any.

I then asked him well why are those on the tray cooked and ready, I was told these have just come out of the oven and can’t be sold to you. I then went on to say I find this very strange, I had been in the shop for over twenty five minutes and the cookies had been on the tray all this time.

Which I pointed out to the guy which then looked up from his phone and gave me the most dirtiest look and totally ignored me. Let’s just say I would rather jump in the car drive all the way to Brent Cross than to go...

Avoid. Accused of stealing items (purchased from Waitrose over the road) whilst at the checkout. Very unfortunate incident involving a pretty rude staff member followed. Even after we proved the items were not from M&S there was zero apology as the guy scuttled off quickly. Manager and checkout person tried their best to be nice about it but sadly you can’t really go around accusing people with zero evidence AND in a rude and aggressive manner. We were offered chocolates or flowers but we are seriously uninterested in that. We have shopped at M&S for decades but we will now go to Waitrose after this deeply distressing and embarrassing incident really would not recommend this branch after the treatment we received. Really unpleasant staff. I bought two melons from the store for a dinner party I was attending. Sadly both turned out to be rotten when opened, they were the last two on the shelf at 09.30 in the morning so could not have been that days delivery. I went back and as I did not have my receipt any longer the staff refused to replace or reimburse me. Furthermore I experienced them as unhelpful and rude. I asked for the main customer services number, and guess what I was given the wrong one! Fortunately I found the correct number on line and the person I spoke to was more than helpful and issued me with a £10 gift voucher.
