The Island Reformer Pilates | Hackney Wick — Local services in London

I joined The Island about four weeks ago and can not recommend them enough. I had been walking daily for mental health reasons and felt I should try reformer Pilates for low impact resistance training.

I initially signed up for the intro package of two sessions and after the first, I was hooked. After the second I signed up for the membership and haven’t looked back.

I’ve had the best experience and feel i’m redeveloping a deep mind-body connection. After two children then the ups and downs we have all been there with COVID, this has helped me immensely.

When I step into the studio I think of nothing else but moving through each sequence. Sol is a fantastic instructor with an incredible way of teaching, she helped me understand what you should be feeling through each move.

I have only just started my journey to health and I’m feeling the benefits already. Pilates is increasing my strength and mobility, I feel physically younger, I’m getting stronger in body and mind.

This studio is a lovely, homey, warm and bright studio with really good quality of equipment and everything in there is so well thought through. You walk in and you feel so comfortable and at home. But the most special thing about the Island studio is Sol. I went into Pilates with a very nasty injury that had kept me in bed for months. Sol has been so supportive in helping me get over my fear of exercising but also she has made me feel so safe as she’s literally keeping both eyes on me during class and giving me adjustments tailored to my needs. I have never felt like that by a teacher in London. She also brings her Latina fire in her classes so they’re super challenging in a way that you know you’re working hard and you do not feel any fear you may injure yourself and somehow you have any pain or soreness the next day! I love meeting women entrepreneurs like this that put their heart and soul into what they do! Needless to say am now addicted to the reformers and Sol Is my go to human!...

I've been coming to The Island for about 6 weeks now and it has changed my life! I've had chronic pain in my hips and shoulders my entire life as well as a torn ACL so its hard for me to find something that works with my injuries. Since joining, I can honestly say I am pain free for the first time in my life. Sol's classes only allow up to 8 people, which really helps to make sure you get the attention you need so you are correctly performing the exercises, and allows for a really nice community feel. The studio itself is really beautiful, with tons of light coming in and full of plants and mirrors so you can check your posture.
