ALDI — Local services in Manchester

Four stars after they have installed " self serve " tills... just because of the prices... All my life I have served others, be it as their Waiter, chef, bar tender, forecourt attendant.,. I was also one of the first male checkout operators at Hillards in Skipton.... not forgetting my job behind the record counter at " Brown Muffs " ( also at Skipton.... and... Yes that was the name of the shop... )... Over 52 years of shop jobs, which started in 1967 when I used to serve in my Nan's electrical shop in Brighton... So... The last thing I want to do at the end of a busy shift, serving people at my Nephews Restaurant, is to serve myself in a supermarket... Not to mention the jobs lost to automation and the lessening of human interaction in everyday life... Sometimes I just feel that moves like this are a step too far.. The sad thing is that I will probably resort to shop delivery service because of this... At least you get to speak a few sentences...

You've got a member of staff exasperatedly shouting at people in self checkout to not pack in the scanning area... meanwhile her colleague is collecting baskets the second they're empty meaning no one can actually do so. So stupid, please encourage the staff to look and pay attention, I'm disabled and I'll take as long as I need if I have no means of moving the stuff cos I expected to have a basket. It might seem like a small thing but I rushed from the embarrassment of that comment being aimed at me, and was in pain as a result. I came here with my partner following him recovering from an illness. He was too weak to go out alone and had not been out for weeks. Half way through our shop security guard asked us one of us to leave, which we did as this was not a problem and we understand and respect the rules.
