I stayed at The Residence Inn by Marriott from Wednesday the 23rd to Thursday the 24th of October.||Staff: The staff are absolutely superb! Dasha and Pace (sorry if I have spelled that incorrectly) were both fabulous with checking in and keeping a hold of my luggage before I checked in. Thank you so much for being so helpful and making my stay so pleasant. It was such a friendly atmosphere.||Location: The location itself is wonderful. You are a 9 minute walk to Anacoats and to Manchester Piccadilly Train Station. It is a very good location but there are currently works going on outside of the hotel which can be quite noisy. ||Rooms: I stayed in the 1 bedroom apartment king suite room. The room itself was spacious and bright. The bath was absolutely wonderful! The bedroom though got rather cold at night and the duvet isn't the warmest so I did not have the best night sleep sadly. The bowls are very small and I found these inadequate for having tuna pasta I made for my dinner that night so bigger bowls would definitely be something that would be helpful for the room. ||Not entirely sure why it was stated on the website that the room included a telescope? I certainly didn't find or see a telescope (unless it was in one of the wardrobe drawers that I didn't look in?) but I did find a Holy Bible and The Book of Mormon in one of the bed side tables in the bedroom not sure if those were supposed to be there or not and not something I have ever come across in a hotel room. ||Value: Definitely great value for money. My room cost £118 and I thought it was great for a single night in Manchester in an apartment. I was attending an event and I needed to make my own food beforehand as I was unable to eat there. This was perfect value. ||Thank you for such...
Read moreI booked a 3-night non-refundable stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly through Booking.com, planning to attend a concert in the city. Unfortunately, the concert was cancelled due to circumstances entirely beyond my control — but was quickly rescheduled for the following week. I contacted both the hotel and Booking.com to request a date change so I could still make use of the stay I had paid for.
Residence Inn by Marriott claims they pride themselves on helping their customers and look forward to offering a comfortable and memorable stay. Sadly, that was not at all my experience. I rang the hotel four times in one day and received no real support or willingness to help. I wasn’t even requiring a refund — just a simple date adjustment to accommodate a clearly unavoidable situation. There was no flexibility, no compassion, and not even a goodwill gesture offered I have just simply been ignored. My messages to the hotel are still waiting on a reply and once I’d rang I was told the manager would look into this asap which clearly has not happened.
While I understand non-refundable policies exist, I believe that in exceptional circumstances like this, fairness and basic customer care should come into play — something supported by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which protects consumers when services cannot be used as intended due to unforeseen events.
Neither Residence Inn nor Booking.com made any effort to do the right thing here, and that’s incredibly disappointing from such a well-known brand. This experience was far from comfortable or memorable — and has left me unlikely to book...
Read moreRooms are great, and the place is 10/15 min walk to the city.
We went there in July, requested a bday surprise for my boyfriend, paid for it, and they got the surprise as if it was coming from the hotel staff team. (two balloons and a card which she asked me to dictate with the sentence I wanted on it and then she never wrote). After this inconvenience, they offered a free night fort he future as an apology. We accepted the night in August and booked another 4 nights for our stay in Manchester, giving the place a second chance. I am still regretting giving them a second chance.
Terrible management and customer service, the staff only says “all I can do is apologize” for everything that goes wrong. Never coming again.
The wifi was very slow.
Cleaning is not properly cleaning even when you are a new guest. Stain of cups on the furniture, floor sticky, dishes not properly cleaned … Housekeeping comes in the room and does nothing if you are lucky enough to have them come to clean (even after requesting). So much time wasted trying to deal with the invoice, payment and staff.
Fire alarm went off at 4AM more than one night and nothing happened.
Breakfast area is too small for the amount or people in it. One coffee machine not working (a very long line), no cutlery bc no staff to replace it etc. we had to clean a table to be able to sit every day bc good luck waiting for someone to clean it.
Very loud noise due to construction...
