Thomas Street Tattoo — Local services in Manchester

After reading reviews on here and seeing his instagram, I thought Dax would be perfect to do what I wanted. He seemed really friendly when I spoke to him on instagram so I was really excited to get my tattoo. I sent him a few reference pictures thinking he would merge them so he wouldn’t be directly copying someone else’s art and he didn’t at all?? Which is a red flag for a tattoo artist in my opinion. He reassured my via instagram that he would make it fit around my eczema but then the print he used was the wrong shape so it was placed somewhere I wasn’t happy with. I asked him to move it literally just 3 times (it is a tattoo on my wrist that I would be constantly seeing so wanted it exactly where I would be happy with and most tattooists are completely fine with re-placing it). I still wasn’t entirely happy with it and he knew that but when I asked if he could just freehand it around my eczema (which most tattooists would do happily) he said “it would be a waste of time if you didn’t like it” and preceded to carry on putting it on the last placement. I felt like this was really rude and the whole experience was massively uncomfortable; the music was intense and loud, we were the only ones in the studio, he wasn’t friendly at all. I’m really glad I went with my partner because if not I genuinely feel like that experience would have made me cry on the spot, I was getting really anxious especially after that comment. I also think I was overcharged but didn’t want to say anything as I just wanted to leave. Don’t think his tattoos are worth the price anymore as the experience really does not make up for it. I wish I could give this place ZERO but Google won’t let me. We felt judged, unsafe and unwelcome from the minute we walked in. My sister and I walked in and went to the desk saying “we have a booking for 11:30” just to be laughed at by two men on a sofa who ridiculed “just sit down” and one pointed with his eyes to the adjacent sofa. He had no knowledge of our booking, quote or the reference photo we sent through. Upon showing him he said “is that it?? that’s all you’re getting?” we said “yes please” and he laughed and rolled his eyes. We were horrified!! We showed him our reference photo (the same one we sent when making the booking) and he completely ignored it, found something on google images and began creating it on Photoshop without consulting with us at all.. complete silence. He printed it off in multiple sizes and bluntly said “okay pick one”. We both agreed we didn’t like the design as it was nothing like the one we had shown him. We began to explain the parts we would like to change and made suggestions to alter it slightly to look more symmetrical. He did not appreciate our input and shut our ideas time each time. I was so thankful my boyfriend was there to intervene and worry about what may have happened if he wasn’t with us. We told him we will leave it for today and rebook for a different time. However, we walked in to a different place who were more than happy to help us and made us feel incredibly welcome, SAFE & comfortable. WE ARE SO GLAD WE DIDN’T SPEND OUR MONEY HERE!!!!! Will never ever come back or speak nicely...

My daughter treat me to a weekend in Manchester and whilst sat in a pub at 5.20pm on Friday said 'Oh we should get a tattoo!'. We googled for a nearby tattoo and rang a sister studio of Thomas Street Ink. I asked if they did walk ins and the receptionist asked for when to which I answered with 'Now?'. After checking she then got back to say that their tattooist had already left for the day but she went that little further and said that a tattooist at Thomas Street Ink was willing to wait for us. We were there within 10 minutes and our tattooist Otis was fantastic! He had to wait whilst my daughter found the tattoo she wanted and he was so patient and friendly. My experience with this tattoo studio and Otis was a amazing, he could have quite easily told us to come back the following day as he finished for the day. Otis went above and beyond what was asked of him, he also fixed a less than perfect tattoo that my daughter had done a couple of years ago.....for free! I cannot rave on enough about this...
