I've been to a lot of cafes in my time, but Federal Cafe in Manchester is by far the best. The food is amazing, the coffee is incredible, and the service is second to none.
I first went to Federal Cafe a few years ago with some friends, and we were all blown away by the food. We started with the avocado toast, which was perfectly ripe and topped with a generous amount of poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. For our mains, we had the huevos rancheros and the shakshuka, both of which were delicious and filling. And of course, we had to try the Federal coffee, which is made with locally roasted beans and is always perfectly brewed.
The service at Federal Cafe is also top-notch. The staff are friendly and attentive, and they always go the extra mile to make sure you have a good experience. I've never had to wait long for my food or drink, and the staff are always happy to answer any questions I have.
I've been back to Federal Cafe many times since my first visit, and I've never been disappointed. It's my go-to spot for brunch, lunch, or dinner, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal and excellent service.
I especially want to mention the staff at the Manchester Piccadilly location. They are always so friendly and welcoming, and they go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. I once had a problem with my order, and they were quick to fix it and apologize. I really appreciate their attention to detail and their commitment to customer satisfaction.

Read moreWhen we arrive at this place at 11am on a Sunday there's a queue, and no wonder. We wait short of 20 minutes for a lovely table outside as the queue keeps increasing.
A look at the menu tells us we'll have trouble deciding since everything sounds delicious. But we do, and wait for someone to take our order, failing to note the massive box at the bottom of the menu that says order at the counter 😂
A member of the staff points it out for us and I go order at the bar. Everyone who works here is so nice and seems to be having a great time.
The counter is packed with cakes and sweets that look delicious and the decor inside is minimalistic yet warm. Wooden based, welcoming, un-pretentious.
The food arrives quickly enough and is definitely delicious. The kind of delicious that makes me jealous of not living in Manchester. And the kind that adds up to my already formed idea of coming back regularly to the city. We finish our poached eggs on sourdough, bacon and avocado, one with mushrooms, one with more bacon - there's nothing left in the plate.
The waiter asks how was everything and we ask him to thank the chef....
Read moreThe food tastes great and photographs nicely. This is the only reason why it is getting two stars. HOWEVER, there are serious issues with the place that should be addressed.
Firstly, the space is very cramped. We went as it started to rain so there was no outdoor seating available. I believe this led to them cramming everyone into the small shop floor. My elbows were literally touching the next table and there was very limited space to move around.
The other major concern I have with this establishment is the cleanliness. I was warned beforehand that the cutlery smelt ‘funny’ but I thought nothing of it. BUT, upon inspection there were bits of food stuck on the cutlery given to us. Furthermore a strange sour raw egg smell also came from some of the cutlery and water glasses.
If you have certain dietary requirements (I.e vegan) I would not come here due to potential contamination issues coming from the unclean cutlery!!
TDLR; shop was too small, food was nice but cutlery and water glasses are unclean leading to an overall...
