Very disappointed at the poor, uncaring service or lack of it that I experienced today at The Whisk in Woburn Sands . My son and I have been eating regularly the last few weeks at this restaurant and have enjoyed the food , although once my pancake was cold . ( these things happen ) But today we arrived at 3.17 to eat and we were told that we had arrive 5/ 10 minutes too late and the restaurant was closed although on their website they are open till 4 . Reason being they were not very busy and just decided to shut shop and send the chef home ! Isnāt it amazing in these times of economical hardship that you can so easily turn away a paying customer ( regular as well ) citing that you need to do the school run and not pay your staff to stay when itās quiet . The Barman who was left apparently canāt cook a pancake and the Manager informs me there is no money to train him . Goodness me times are hard . I will be donating a cook book when I next pass but I wonāt be giving any of my money to them again . Family business or not every customer should count and nobody wants to hear that they are not bothered if you eat there anymore. . Good Luck to the local business which opens and closes when it chooses . When I used to work we stayed open till the last customer or till closing time . The Whisk , Good enough pancakes , Bad service . Uncaring Manager . Not for me after...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been to The Whisk a few times and it never fails to impress me. The menu selection is amazing and Iām slowly working my way through it with each visit. There are always a fantastic range of specials on offer and every single dish is absolutely delicious. This time they were offering Macarons made by Royal Macarons MK which were divine and it was so lovely to see local businesses supporting each other.
On this particular visit, the star of the show for me was the strawberry smoked-salt margarita. This genuinely has to be one of the best cocktails I have ever had and even the salt and garnish is made in house! My favourite pancake has to be the pulled pork but honestly theyāre all absolutely delicious. Iād recommend booking a table though as they always seem quite busy, but thatās no surprise and great to see in a small village!
A massive thank you to Zayna and Olga for looking after myself and my family during our meal and to the whole team for your hard work. This is my favourite place to eat for miles around and Iāll be seeing you again very soon - hopefully for a cocktail masterclass this time, followed by more delicious...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Whisk opened recently, and I went in for a late breakfast. Already it is busy with friends meeting to chat over coffee and a pancake. The atmosphere is relaxed, bright and cosy, and I sat near the big window which looks across at the old Methodist Chapel opposite. There is a simple menu of savory and sweet pancakes. I chose the chorizo onion and cheese, which came with a little leaf salad and creme fraiche, and was delicious. I find decaf coffee is often not that great in smaller cafes, but theirs was so good that I had to have a second. I understand the beans are roasted locally. The Whisk also specialises in cocktails, but currently seems to be closed most evenings, which is a shame, as it is a very welcome addition to the High Street. Perhaps it will open more evenings in the coming months? Strangely, I believe there was some initial opposition to its opening from a few local residents concerned that a cocktail bar might create noise. However Woburn Sands has quite a few cafes and pubs, and remains a peaceful and genteel little town. You can park in the shoppers car park, which is accessed from...
