Londis — Local services in Oxford

This shop thoroughly abuses its position of being the only grocery store in the area. Quite apart from being crazily overpriced (eggs 2x what they are in the coop nearby), it regularly sells food that is out of date, and has done for years. Today they sold me a box of eggs which, when opened, were so rotten they were black. They were unstamped (illegal). On returning them the seller showed no interest in checking the others on the shelf (which were also unstamped), or doing anything about it. Have overhead another customer complaining that cigarettes were being sold in illegal packaging (so...

Quite a good range for a little shop, particularly if you're looking for sandwiches 🥪 , slices 🥙, pepperami 🌭, drinks 🧃, nuts 🥜, sweets 🍬, or beer 🍺.

Never had to shop here for a weekly shop but seems to have a good range of stuff.

Oh, and has a load of crisps and tobacco. Generally a great store if you're just popping in for one or two things. Suggestion would be to have more vegan stuff - don't have any Vegetarian samosa's, and most of the snacks seem meat based (bar nuts, confectionery, and crisps.

Do support them rather than the big supermarkets...

This is my local corner shop. The opening hours are reasonable, but you have to be very careful with the quality of perishable goods, which are frequently in a poor state. For example, I've purchased ice cream that had clearly been completely thawed and re-frozen, and mouldy produce is often left on display.
